A fine array of Morning Glories from this morning and a couple of a Morning Glory flower with raindrops from yesterday.
The Morning Glories have gone a bit mad at the front of our house recently. Usually they have been in the pale green tub at the bottom left of the photo, which is surrounded on the outside by Morning Glory leaves. However there was a bit of an error made which meant there aren't any there this year. Over the years some Morning Glory plants have slef-seeded in the front garden and this year they have got a bit mad, with a bit of help from me and exploded upwards along the trellis and up to the top of the picture and horizontally along the ground. I counted about 50 flowers this morning in purple, shades of pink and white. I don't think we have had as many flowering before. 16/09/26.Water droplets on the pink flower of a Morning Glory in the sunshine, 15/09/26.A monochrone image of water droplets on the leaves of a Morning Glory flower in the sunshine, 15/09/26.

The usual Wednesday trip with Mum down to the front at Sheringham to watch the turnstones for a while, mainly in front of 'The Crown'. It was a bit breezy and I counted at least 30 turnstones, possibly as high as 34. More details in captions. @bridgetjanejones.bsky.social @nenbc.bsky.social
A sole turnstone, its' coat turning from summer to winter, stands on a rock that forms part of the groyne in front of 'The Crown' pub in Sheringham, as spray is thrown up from a breaking wave behind. 16/09/26.Three turnstones stand on the seawall at Sheringham in bright late morning sunshine as waves break against wooden groynes in the background.Eleven turnstones stand on top of the seawall at Sheringham this morning, 16/09/26. Most are in sunshine apart from one at the far left which is in shade from the wall behind. The twelfth turnstone at the far right is captured in flight. When Mum and me arrived, there was only one turnstone on the wall, I had brought some mealworms with me and on putting some out, a few more turnstones arrived. A little while later around 20 or so flew in from further east.

I also used the impressive art setting, it accentuates the shape and form of the cloud. This being the front of the storm as in the first photo I posted. The remains of a metal post at the end of submerged groyne is the only landmark on a calm sea.

Some views from Sheringham around sunrise, 04/04/26. Sky doing its' best Jupiters atmosphere impression. @michaelinthegarden.bsky.social @icelass.bsky.social
Looking north-east from Skelding Hill, Sheringham over the North Sea just before sunrise, 04/04/26. Probably the best way to describe the sky is as looking at the atmosphere of Jupiter! Swirls of white cloud, interspersed with grey clouds, lit by the orange light of the rising sun which has yet to rise above the horizon. On the horizon in silhouette is a vessel which I presume to be the Rambiz, a Belgian Heavy Lift Vessel which is shown on Marine Traffic to be at anchor around there.Looking north-east from Skelding Hill, Sheringham over the North Sea just before sunrise, 04/04/26. Some turnstones, Sheringham, 21/03/26.
A lone turnstone walks along the top of the sea wall at Sheringham, in front of The Crown. The turnstone has its' back to the camera showing off its brown plumage and from its' gait, it is in motion. One problem with taking photos of turnstones are that they are always in motion and liable to move just as you are taking the picture. In this case it appears that the turnstone in the bottom left of the photo is literally falling over the wall out of the photo. Various other turnstones are visilble.Another turnstone photo full of motion. The main focal point is a turnstone in the centre of the photo, with another blurred in front of it. Various other turnstones are taking flight with wings extended.20 turnstones, as far as I can count line the seawall around where the steps head down to Central Beach at Sheringham, 21/03/26.

Today's sunrise in Sheringham, 21/03/26. Not too shabby @michaelinthegarden.bsky.social @icelass.bsky.social
The waters of the boating lake at Sheringham were still first thing this morning, 21/03/26, just before sunrise. The sky is reflected in the water, which spans most of the bottom half of the photo. It is mostly a pale blue, with a few cotton wool grey clouds, with some white vapour trails visible as well. The shelter by the boating lake is visible at the left of the photo and it's silhouette is reflected in the water beneath it.Looking west along the cliffs from Skelding Hill, around sunrise 21/06/26. Beyond Weybourne, the ground was swathed in mist with only the towers of St. Nicholas Church, Salthouse and St Mary the Virgin, Wiveton visible. The houses on the cliff at Weybourne are just below middle of the photo with the tower of St. Nicholas above left of it diagonally at an angle of 20 degrees, with St Mary's further along a similar angle. This morning was possibly the hardest frost of the year here in Sheringham and the sunlight from the rising sun illuminates the frost on Sheringham Golf Course. Beeston Bump is just above middle at the left of the photo and it cast its' shadow over Sheringham. Beyond the light illuminates the mist over Beeston Common and Cookie's Field. The tower of St. Peter's Church is at the right of the photo, with the Holt-Cromer ridge above it.The view of Sheringham as seen from around the 4th tee of Sheringham Golf Club. The sun has risen further and the warm colours of the previous photo have given way to a colder white of the frost on the Golf Course and the mist in the distance over Beeston Common. Sheringham seen from Skedling Hill, around 06:15 19/03/26. The sun is rising at the left edge of the photo and a thick orange band is visible on the North Sea. A view of Sheringham from Skelding Hill, taken about 10:00, 19/03/26. A haze covers the town, Beeston Bump is slightly obscured in the distance. The haze looks heavier in the photo than I seem to remember it to my own eyes. The view over the Boating Lake, Sheringham, 05:40, 19/03/26, as the day gets lighter before sunrise. Four from around Sheringham, 31/01/26. Some blue sky at last.

The wave conditions were good for surfing. One rider is celebrating after riding a wave. The board looks to have a keel underneath and you can see how it has cut through the water heading diagonally to the left of the surfer as you look, with spray coming up just behind the rider.Monochrome image of water droplets on lupin leaves.Spotting birdwatchers meant the eastern black redstart was still around. I was walking along the coastal path, while the redstart was enjoying the gardens of The Leas. Even got Mum to see this afternoon around the back of The Burlington.

I think the discrepancy is due to NSE logos beIng placed on the white band on rolling stock. Now if they had been placed in the same place on the locos. My photo of 50026 'Indomitable', Oxford, 05/05/90.

I'm not a birder really but living in North Norfolk you are in birding country. I spent I while wondering around looking for the Eastern Black Redstart but then it appeared around 09:50, Sheringham, 30/12/25. @icelass.bsky.social

Seeing we're on a Class 87 theme, here's one of my favourite photos: 87006 'City of Glasgow' heading north from platform 5 at Crewe after being detached from its' train on a Sunday around 36 years ago. @doublearrow64.bsky.social
87006 'City of Glasgow' leaving platform 5 at Crewe light engine on a Sunday after working a train from London Euston. 87006 is heading for the Manchester lines which head off to the right of the picture. Photo probably taken around midday as the sun is pretty much head on to the rear cab. Loco in early Inter-City livery, with yellow ends and a BR double arrow just visible on the bodyside of 87006. The West Coast Main Line to Liverpool and Scotland disappears into the distance to the right of 87006. Lots of structures to support the overhead wires are visible. 87006 is framed between the post of signal CE157, shunt signal visible, and a stanchion on the right.

My photo of 87030 at Euston, probably 1990/91, with large numbers and a larger arrow symbol than 87021 just visible in the gloom. I'm sure I've got a colour photo of 87030 from May 1990 but that may be lost in the mists of time.

Whilst I was up on Skelding Hill, Sheringham, 15/07/25, looking for ladybirds I was treated to the sight of a pair of red kites overhead. This one was directly overhead for a short while before flying off east. @icelass.bsky.social

Now for the addendum. I took this photo of a group of six seven-spot ladybirds on gorse, near to where i found the first two. I didn't notice until I uploaded the photo that there where a couple of dinocampus coccinellae wasps crawling around too.
A group of six seven-spot ladybirds grouped around the top of a gorse stalk, Skelding Hill, Sheringham, 15/07/25. There is a presumed dinocampus coccinellae wasp on a leaf above the seven-spot ladybird that is furthest right. There also is a second wasp crawling over the shell of the ladybird at the bottom.
