NYC has raised the value of travel lanes to outsiders coming in through congestion pricing but haven’t embraced Shoup by collecting on the value of their on street parking which is immense. Of 3 million curbside parking spaces, only about 80,000 are metered. Metering 1/4 could ease 1.2 B per CC.

In 1957, a T ride cost 20¢. Adjusted for inflation, that's $2.40, exactly what the T costs today (well, $2.41, but close). The Turnpike from 128 to New York cost $2.45. Adjusted for inflation, it would be equivalent to $29.64. Driving the length of the Pike costs $4.25 today.
