Reeks of the huge push to label those with certain co-occuring conditions as having "profound autism." The goal being to indicate that speaking individuals without intellectual disability aren't "really" autistic. Hand-in-hand w/ the refusal to believe we can know we're autistic w/out a diagnosis.

It's not like the Pope is even saying anything difficult, esoteric, or controversial to actual theologians. Peace, kindness, valuing life -- I've never met a biblical scholar of any tradition who would disagree that these are not basic elements of the Gospels. It's only controversial to grifters.

I'm in a clinical trial now through Scripps which is accessible for me. Everything is shipped and monitoring is virtual. It's a rarity for sure. But with most of these studies, I think they're neglecting the most seriously ill cohort.

Contrary to public perception a huge % of pregnant teenagers in the 1990s were impregnated by adult men. The younger they were, the larger the average age gap between mother and father was. Fixing teen pregnancy was in part a clampdown on statutory rape. That's what conservatives want to reverse.

I love humpback whales, and years ago I read about changes in the way their songs develop. Pods that used to sing to each other can now no longer communicate, so they are evolving separate "dialects." Linguistically fascinating, but ecologically troubling.

A view of a pine forest as the morning fog started to dissipate and burned off shortly afterwards. The fog is really a low hanging cloud that sits on this mountain forest and get blown through here and onto the city below. If you catch it at the right time you can stand on the edge of the cloud and see where the view starts to disintegrate into a haze. Or you bring some coffee, sit and watch as the cloud passes through and the whole scene changes. Sometimes it takes a few minutes, sometimes a few hours.
