It's that time again! Remember: essential services cannot be left to the whims of charity. Why is the govt. not using our taxes for baby incubators, youth clubs & school counsellors? Poor ppl donate more, basically paying for services they need more & we're supposed to pat celebs on the back for it.

Dear old Clavdivs, whom we love thanks to Derek Jacobi. According to the Historia Augusta (which is rather dodgy as a source), he made the Rites of Cybele a religious holiday in Rome. That included the day on which the transfemine priestesses of the goddess had their surgery.

My first short story published in an actual real anthology: wizardstowerpress.com/books-2/anth... They are Still Here (Maen Nhw Yma O Hyd) is an anthology of fantasy tales of resistance and resilience. The threats will be modern, but the resolution will be rooted in the fabulous mythology of Wales

On 12 October 1794, Llanbradach-born radical, Baptist minister and writer Morgan John Rhys landed in New York. He later campaigned for reform, liberty and the abolition of slavery, and helped found the Welsh settlement of Cambria in Pennsylvania. #FamousWelshMinds #WelshHistory

Honoured to be awarded the British Fantasy Society’s Special Award for my contribution to the genre. Thanks to JRR Tolkien, who sparked my lifelong fascination; to all my colleagues and authors since the time when sff was a despised genre to the most successful sector of modern publishing. #books 💙📚

On 11 Oct 1833, workmen dismantling Bryn yr Ellyllon - the “Hill of the Goblins” - near Mold uncovered a Bronze Age grave containing a crushed gold cape. Made c.1900-1600 BC, it is one of prehistoric Europe’s most extraordinary gold treasures. #WelshHistory #MoldGoldCape

Dear people at #FantasyCon who are looking up our books on Amazon. The paper editions are cheaper here than online. The ebooks are the same price but Amazon doesn’t get a cut so the author gets more money.

The starter and dessert were quite nice. I may have had two desserts. But the main was best characterised as bland, except for the little ball of haggis which was lovely. For a hotel banquet meal, this is exceptionally good.
