It is perfectly fine not to like Nolan’s Odyssey of course. But if you’re not a writer and you say it’s written abysmally, you sound a little cringeworthy. The craft is great. It might leave you cold, bored, whatever. You might dislike, even hate, the take on the story.

Nolan’s Odyssey is the GOAT. It modernises characters and events, where lesser filmmakers would have just created modern characters and events and slapped old names on them. It’s a spectacular feat of writing, among other things.

It's a huge mistake to "adjust to" or "adapt" to generative AI. There's rarely been a more clearcut situation to reject vehemently for so many reasons. One reason beyond those that apply now is the future capacity for proactive manipulation and distortion. We need less outside interference not more.

Too many books feel as if they’ve been written by an algorithm. If that’s how we write, and if that’s the kind of writing that gets promoted, of course an AI can do a better job than writers & publishers. Our first line of defence is neither tech or law. It is writing and promoting better books.
