By owning a forest you have also entered the world of Sweden's skogsägarföreningar (forest owners' associations), such as Mellanskog. Welcome!

Sweden's skogsägarföreningar have deep historical roots. Back in the early 20th century, the Swedish industry grew rapidly, small forest owners started organising themselves to strengthen their position in the timber market and in relation to large companies. Today, there are around 300,000 private forest owners in Sweden who together supply more than half of the country's timber. It has been quite a success story. We wouldn't say it's quite on the scale of the AI revolution. But almost.

We understand that you are a highly successful person. But if you are new to forest ownership, it is perfectly okay to feel a little overwhelmed by the task at hand. The decisions you make today will affect the forest - and the landscape and society around it - for decades and even centuries to come.

This is a big responsibility. But we've got your back.

Skogsägarföreningar have members and staff all over Sweden, and you'll be pleased to know that Mellanskog has a local forest group in Härjedalen. Perhaps you like to meet up with fellow forest owners and neighbors and grab a coffee (fika, as we call it), or maybe attend to our popular course for new forest owners? It take place every other month, so we're sure you'll find a slot that matches your schedule.

We belive that there is a good reason to get to know the people and place around your forest. Because when you have become a large forest owner in a small community, you also become a part of its history, culture and traditions.
