This yellow slime mold went crazy all over these sticks! Because I use the photo stacking technique, sometimes I capture slight movement in these slime molds as I get shots from the front to the back. Their movement looks like breathing as they expand and contract while they crawl along 🍄📷 📸🎞 🍄 📷 🍄‍🟫

A bright yellow slime mold of some sort completely overtakes fallen fir tree branches. Slime molds move around when they're in their liquidy plasmodial stage, and then at some point, they decide it's time to harden-up and form fruit bodies that eventually help spread spores so they can continue their cycle.

I read Jonathan Alter’s biography of Jimmy Carter a few years ago. It was simply amazing how he never stopped going 100% in all that life offered: learning to downhill skill at 62, climbing Kilimanjaro at 64, picking up snorkeling at 90. RIP.

In the Malheur National Forest in Michigan there is a single fungus that stretches nearly four square miles underground with a combined weight of around 35000 tons and an estimated lifespan of around 8500 years. It's the oldest of five humongous funguses within the forest, each genetically distinct.
