It reminds me of The Blues Brothers driving around in the Bluesmobile. They're wearing the uniform of detectives, driving an old police car and yet there anarchy personified. It's almost like a drag performer taking these authoritarian costumes and turning them upside down.

When you think about it, it's really kind of strange that Doctor Who rides around in a magic police box. In theory, a police box has the semiotics of Law, Order. You might think the Doctor is a copish figure like Superman or James Bond but ironically he's quite anarchistic.

#NYCC McFarlane is probably the the only company that makes sense to take on Judge Dredd/2000AD characters. It's a licence that's to obscure for something like Mattel or Hasbro to pick up. Now...I want a Nemesis action figure. Like, really really want one.

Holy crap, there’s literally a George Carlin stand up bit from 20 years ago where he jokes that if they started televising public executions it would be a great way to distract people from balancing the budget.

This is probably a dream project for Morrison. Short of them ever getting to do the Morrison treatment on Spider-Man (which feels very remote) seeing a Morrison take on James Bond feels like it has potential to become very interesting.

In a small apartment, a forlorn woman, eyes, downcast speaks into a telephone, "ERIC--?! What a pleasant surprise! Tonight--? I...I'm afraid I already have plans. Maybe we can get together sometime next week. Why don't I give you a call?" Behind her the television is on and she's clearly watching "The Flintstones".

Theory: Billy Bob Thorntons in Bad Santa was a runner up for the heist team in Reservoir Dogs. Back in ‘91 he was such a good con artist that he was one of a list of criminals that could possibly have replaced any of the other members of the crew. But a decade later he was a drunk pulling mall jobs.

It's probably one of the Frank Miller Daredevil books. Born Again is the most likely candidate. Inmate character piece that also has a larger social, political considerations. A collaboration between the same creators of Year One. This could be the only DD story you ever read and the best.

Jon Landis did a Vampire movie with Robert DeNiro and what seems like a cameo appearance by Don Rickles. Seems like a spiritual successor to American Werewolf in London. Never heard of this before but I’m guessing it’s either a hidden treasure or “nobody talks about it because it’s bad”

This is a really fascinating issue to read in 2026 because I think we can now recognize what is happening to Swampy loosing his mind is basically what happens people who think AI is actually their best friend or a demon. It's literally all in your head.

As usual, bow poses are not a great time, but I did manage to get her to look better than most. The bow has some flex. Sniperino!!! Now that’s a rifle sound.

I didn’t even realize it was Batman day and by pure coincidence I’ve been doing a re-read of Swamp Thing and and I just read ish 53 which in my opinion might be the best Batman (in which he’s not the most important character) Also it might well be Alan Moore’s best single issue? Perhaps 🤔

I think they should just let Miracleman die. It's kind of bizzare that Marvel is trying to make him the "next big thing" even though he has no cultural pull outside of comic geeks who love 80's deconstructionist superheros. Maybe they watched The Boys and went' "We want OUR version of Homelander"

If you ever get the chance, I recommend getting a copy of the Michael Zulli Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic. Probably one of the most idiosyncratic versions of the turtles ever. It's like the story of The Golem of Prague mixed with the Japanese horror film 'Onibaba' (1964)

Good episode. Palance was Ukrainian-American and very proud. My dad met Jack Palance at a Ukrainian-Canadian cultural event in Manitoba in the late 70’s where Palance was invited as marshal. He said despite his on screen presence as a heavy he was actually a friendly guy.

As time goes I still have a deep sympathy for the plight of Shaggy and Scooby. They have no business being in such spooky situations. They’re not like Dale Cooper, intent on penetrating the veil. Yet destiny seems inevitable for them, enduring never ending series of perilous adventures.

Short of legal action, I don't think there's any way to stop it at this point. The only silver lining to the whole thing is that any woman who he tries to pick up now at least can do a little background search and find out: "Danger, Will Robinson!"
