We have a 4th Stata package, multisit_regLATE, to estimate sign of reg coefficients of sites' LATEs on characteristics. For instance, can be used to test if LATEs positively correlated to sites' first stages (consistent w Roy model). ssc install multisite, then run it once to install 4 packages.

We recommend that journals consider instituting a practice by which they avoid revealing author identities to reviewers. Under this practice, journals would ask authors to submit a version of the manuscript that does not reveal their identities and would share this version with the reviewers. Journals would also ask the reviewers to refrain from looking up author identities and not rely on these identities if they know them.

I teach a course where students pick a construct and develop a questionnaire. Last year, a group chose "precrastination." They were the 1st to hand in their assignment. This year, a group chose "dysfunctional conscientiousness." I just received their final report, >1 week before the deadline 😭

Under staggered treatment, a distributed lag TWFE is garbage even without heterogenous treatment effect. It cannot provide a reliable assessment of pre-trends given the wacky weights (possibly negative) it puts on the underlying (cohort specific) leads AND lags. Just garbage.

I think in economics we are getting to an interesting place of (relative) epistemic humility about merhods #EconSky. Theory first reigned, then the credibility revolution arrived, and some took it to extremes. And now we are back to a more balanced approach of methodological pluralism. Thoughts?
