The FAI’s handling of the Nations League fixtures shows that when it comes to standing up for those who have no voice, words are not enough. It’s actions that count.

Google finally updated some of its satellite images of Gaza and my god, it's horrific. The entirety of Rafah has been demolished. The majority of Khan Younis is in ruins. Entire towns completely leveled and erased of the map.

Living on an Orange March route is what made me understand why the military have marching bands. They are designed to invoke a lingering sense of terror in stages by instrument, and then by lyrics. Noone should be forced to hear hundreds of people singing joyfully about spilling their blood.

Fucking disgraceful. Both that it's going ahead at all, and that people protesting this shit in their community could be arrested for it. None of this needs to be happening.

Don't really think Ireland as a whole deserves a pat on the back for the work of some artists, activists, and the people who pressure and protest, when our government watered down the OTB, the GAA refuses to drop Israeli weapon insurer Allianz, and the FAI is happy to play Israel without Irish fans

Discworld QOTD, from Sourcery
Discworld meme. On the left is Death, a skeleton with glowing blue eye sockets wearing a black robe. Death is petting a small kitten.

On the right is the text of the quote.

“I meant,” said Ipslore bitterly, “what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?’

Death thought about it.

CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

If there "are less electricity connections available for new housing" because of data centres, then the Government need to seriously explain why they want to build even more centres across Ireland. #SpeirGorm @thejournal.ie
Politicians across the United States are now learning the lesson that the Green Party and others have been telling the Irish Government – that they need to be upfront with the public about the trade-offs that opening large numbers of data centres involves,” the Dublin West TD said.

Yes, data centres are an important part of modern economies, but there are real problems created by the fact that right now in Ireland, 23% of our total electricity generated is swallowed up by them. This creates higher prices for ordinary consumers… It also means less electricity connections available for new housing.”

As well as the damage to artists, the tidal wave of AI is totally drowning out educational and good travel accounts. We are being buried alive by it. For me to do one post for @tuatha.ie I have to visit the site, edit the images, research info and write a post balanced to a general audience...
An AI post of Poulnabrone Dolmen, though this one is reasonably realistic and not as obvious, you can tell it's AI as Poulnabrone does not have a sea view, also the gentians dont flower there like in the image. But this shows how difficult it is becoming to tell the real from fakeAnother AI image, this time I think it is supposed to be Knowth in the Boyne Valley, this is more obviously fake but only if you know the real siteAnother AI image supposedly representing the Grianán, this is pretty rubbishA truly terrible AI representation of Newgrange

Discworld QOTD, from Going Postal
“You mean . . . I could choose certain death?”

“A choice, nevertheless,” said Vetinari. “Or, perhaps, an alternative. You see, I believe in freedom, Mr. Lipwig. Not many people do, although they will, of course, protest otherwise. And no practical definition of freedom would be completely without the freedom to take the consequences. Indeed, it is the freedom upon which all the others are based. Now . . . will you take the job? No one will recognize you, I am sure. No one ever recognizes you, it would appear.”

Moist shrugged. “Oh, all right. Of course, I accept as natural-born criminal, habitual liar, fraudster, and totally untrustworthy perverted genius.”

“Capital! Welcome to government service!” said Lord Vetinari, extending his hand.
