I had two serious reactions with insurance-provided medical transport AFTER we told them we must have as low a scented environment as possible, and they didn't comply--I get Neuro reactions with aphasia so couldn't explain I needed to get out right away. It's infuriating.

I wrote a (fiction) book. One of the characters was semi-autobiographical, she had certain characteristics and childhood conditions similar to my own. While I was editing, I realized this character was autistic, and the lightbulb went on.

I first saw the original cartoon when I was about 8, and I was SO MAD that it missed entire plot points from the book (and gave the mom dog the wrong name, swapped with the name from one of those missing plot points). The book, of course, was SO MUCH BETTER.

"$880 billion in Medicaid cuts" is just erasing Medicaid entirely. It's more than the total the federal government spent on Medicaid in Fiscal Year 2023. Source: KFF www.kff.org/medicaid/iss...

With HSD and POTS, you almost certainly have MCAS, even without knowing anything else about your medical history. ;) They really like to travel together. I also had POTS and EDS symptoms going back to childhood, and some "normal" allergies. The MCAS kicked in hard as an adult. Dx'd in 2022-2023.

It took me many years from first suspicion to finally getting a formal Dx, I was "presumed" for about a decade. Ironically it was long/Covid that threw me into a more reactive state and I finally got a Dx (of the whole trifecta POTS/MCAS/EDS). Good luck in your own journey!

Also for a positive Dx, you'd need labs drawn at baseline AND labs in a flare to compare, and it's not always easy to get them done in a flare since it's exquisitely time-critical. A good Dr will Dx based on history + positive response to #MCAS meds, but finding that unicorn is HARD.

Isn't that so validating?? It took me 30 years from first symptoms to finally get my POTS Dx via TTT and QSART (I "only" had to wait 7 months for the actual test but I heard a couple of months later that the wait time here had increased to 7 YEARS due to long Covid).

Happy Valentine's Day. Disabled ppl receiving sub-poverty level govt income assistance still don't have marriage/relationship equality. Disability rates are tied to total household income which = callbacks & often forces us to be totally financially dependent on those we live with, leading to abuse.

I had MCAS decades before Covid, but 4 bouts plus two bouts of Long Covid kicked everything into high gear. COVID is no joke. On the plus side (if there is one) it also made my POTS and EDS bad enough that I was finally able to get a formal Dx. :/

This is exactly it (histamine build-up). It's faster with protein foods (I can eat something like cooked rice the following day, but not at all with meat, beans, etc). Freezing can help. Fun fact: the actual act of digestion also releases histamines, no matter what the food is.
