Happy to announce our ❗recent OA publication❗ in Ecography, selected as Editor’s Choice! We revisited 34 kelp forest sites to assess climate-driven shifts in kelp structure and distribution. Overall, warm-temperate kelps are increasing, while some cold-temperate species are in decline. vist.ly/55kj2

Discovering the underwater forests of Shetland 🌿 Kelp forests are globally significant habitats, but we don't know much about them in some areas. That's why Dr. Dan Smale and his team travelled to Shetland - a remote region they hadn't been able to survey before. #KelpForests #KelpResearch

Life in deep-sea caves is usually dark… usually. Meet the aptly named golden glow zoantharian (Corallizoanthus aureus), which was spotted living on corals in deep-sea caves near Japan. What’s special about these tiny critters is that they glow.

In my print, she is surrounded by algae of the Pacific, all of which appeared in Abbott's research publications, including several species she discovered, or based on images of specimen she personally collected or whose traditional use as food she documented.
