A really, REALLY amazing thing happened last month: I sold an original #coloredpencil #illustration! 🎊 To be more specific, I sold the one pictured here, "Ice Seraph".
A slanted view of an illustration framed in a silver frame with a black mat. The illustration depicts a light-skinned face surrounded by six blue-purple wings whose tips are white and have blue eyes on them. There is a seventh wing directly below the chin that is one large blue eye. There are some swirling mint green and pale purple shapes around the seraph.

I keep hearing that being concerned about Covid, or that being concerned about climate, or that being concerned about AI, is really just a sign of “a moral panic,” but based on the state of the world these days it seems immoral not to be at least a little panicked

That's a wrap on my first irl Bay Area Queer Zine Fest! What a delightful fest. 🥰 As someone who's been vending at some kind of art event or another for over a decade, I can't remember an event as CHILL as this one that had this much traffic and cool people visiting it. #bayarea #queer #zinefest

One thing that really validated my zine-making practice this month was how my newest #zines got a lot of love. My two zines from this year, the book swap mini-zine and the #perzine "The invisibility of spouse", have been a hit.
Three zines lined up with a light wood backdrop. The left zine is a mini-zine that says "How to do a book swap with friends" in black ink on white paper, with two books below the text with arrows between the books. The middle zine is made of white paper with the text "THE INVISIBILITY OF SPOUSE" written out in cutout pieces of letters from magazine pages. The right zine is made of lime green paper and in shaky black handwriting says "THIS COULD'VE BEEN A ZINE"

PERSON 2: When dense crust subducts, geologists think it might pile up at the bottom of the mantle. [illustration of Person 2’s related theory] (3) PERSON 2: We’re going to hide in the crust and ride it down to see. Wanna come? It’s gonna be spooky! (4) PERSON 1: Won’t that take millions of years? Coming soon: more tiny art on ko☕fi! These are two I've recently framed with frames I've repurposed (a la garage finds or street treats). Both are 15 doll airs iirc, if you are so moved by either of them before I get around to making an official listing.
A photo of two pieces of art in small rectangular picture frames positioned landscape-style. The one in the foreground is an illustration of a light-skinned hand offering a lavender envelope with a rainbow seal to a more freckled light-skinned hand held up in opposition. it's not a self-help book, but it is pretty opinionated. The Politics of Lonely: Why is Friendship So Hard? is officially out today! bookshop.org/p/books/the-...
Three pieces of advice from The Politics of Lonely
(swipe to see one more that got cut from the finished book)
- “Each of us needs a lot of people, and we need them very badly.”
- “It is worth considering whether you might let your friendships inconvenience you a fraction as much as your job does.”
- “Kill the Margaret Thatcher in your head”

out today, 2026-09-10stated reason for not writing a self-help book: “I believe that the message that you can fix all your problems on an individual level implies that they’re your fault to begin with.”

actual reason for not writing a self-help book: i do not give good advice :)

screenshot from the book manuscript, where i have written "have sex with one of your friends! just kidding.... unless?", with a comment asking "too unhinged?" and my very patient editor replying "probably, haha!"
