Still absolutely seething about the Microsoft firing-line. I was talking to my games students yesterday about the importance of maintaining a critical distance from any larger company they end up working for. Treat them like a landlord that knows you don't have renters' protections.

SO, I've been digging into this concept lately that games culture-at-large does not have a historical consciousness. It just does not consider games as part of longer, more complex histories. 'Gamers' are only responsive to histories that are isolated within the medium or platform they understand.
