A chart showing new EV & PHEV sales over the years. The market absolutely fell out when the new National govt had a fucking insane idea to stop incentives to get EVs, then when Trump thought he should start a war instead of going to jail for being a Pedo & fuel prices went through the roof, EV sales have risen again

look, if you're worried about being remembered, don't try to pursue immortality or whatever, the smart move is to start selling substandard copper and then make sure anyone who complains deposits a physical copy of that complaint in a site that will later be archaeologically significant

Like. I have said it before and I'll say it again: when your industry's founding pitch is "what if there was a tool with human-level intelligence that didn't have human rights," then regardless of whether the tech is actually sentient (which it isn't), nothing downstream of that will be ethical.

The worm drives helically through the wood
And does not know the dust left in the bore
Once made the table integral and good;
And suddenly the crystal hits the floor.
Electrons find their paths in subtle ways,
A massless eddy in a trail of smoke;
The names of lovers, light of other days —
Perhaps you will not miss them. That’s the joke.
The universe winds down. That’s how it’s made.
But memory is everything to lose;
Although some of the colors have to fade,
Do not believe you’ll get the chance to choose.
Regret, by definition, comes too late;
Say what you mean. Bear witness. Iterate.

IMO, no one should put wool, silk, delicate or expensive clothing into a washing machine set to hot or into a dryer on high temp; and many conversations with lawyers, HR, and senior government officials should not be transcribed by Otter.ai and other AI transcription services.

I've spent a lot of years studying a lot of collapses, and the truth of the matter is that they're always mundane: mild climatic shifts that reduce crop yields, a dumbass in power who makes some terrible decisions, neglecting things that obviously matter but the will to fix them can't be summoned.

3) What can you do to mitigate or eliminate the hazard? This brings us to everyone's favorite safety infographic, The Hierarch of Controls. Most people drop off the the top two levels, Elimination & Substituion, because they have already committed to making a hazard.
Tom from Explosions & Fire provides his Hierarchy of Controls

ELIMINATION - Physically remove the hazard
SUBSTITUTION - Replace the hazard
ENGINEERING CONTROLS - Isolate people from the hazard
ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROLS - Change the way people work
DENIAL - Threats can't hurt you if they're not real

In 1980, there were five karure/black robin left in the world. Every one of the 300 alive today is descended from a single breeding pair, Old Blue and Old Yellow. And now, they're leading the polls in the 2026 Bird of the Year #boty. Vote karure! www.birdoftheyear.org.nz?bird=black-r...
A bar chart of the poll results for NZ Bird of the Year. Placings are:

4. Kea
5. Takahē
6. Tawaki piki toka (eastern rockhopper penguin)

A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.
