Anyway, if you would like to support a newspaper trying to do all of that, or if you would like to stay informed on Scotland while living elsewhere, you could get a whole year of access for £20 if you fancy. If it's not for you, you can cancel any time. thenational.scot/subscribe

Tree Seed Collection volunteers had a great day at #GlenFinglas, coming away with a 2.5kg haul of silver birch seed. There was a birch pollen surge across Scotland back in Spring. A bumper harvest of seeds was expected to follow, and it has! 🧵 1/2

I took my camera into work on Friday and went exploring at lunchtime. Not sure if this is Common Lime or Small-leaved but it's has a good year for #Fruits. I remember as a child being disappointed that you don't get limes on a lime tree (they aren't related to citrus fruits at all). #WildfowerHour

Really sad to see that Roy and Viveka have been on the receiving end of such disgusting abuse and misinformation in relation to the work they do with I Hear Dee in order to keep Shaetlan alive as a language, in particular their efforts to get it officially recognised as such. Sadly too common.

I'd normally call this Wild Carrot for #WildflowerHour but as we're doing #CommonNames let's use the alternative, Queen Anne's Lace. A rather charming old name, and the flowers do look a bit like lace.
Two plant flower-heads, one with lots of white flowers in a flat shape, the other gone to seed and curled in on itself to make a rough sphere.

It has been so dry of late, I can’t remember when it last rained. The fields once green are now a colour of sand and dust. There are pockets though, on the margins, where the trees offer shelter to the resilient, where willowherb and bindweed not only survive but thrive. #wildflowerhour

If Norris has the time or the inclination, the real reform should be sentencing that is readily understood. Not ‘serve X proportion’. Just let the Judge spell out: a) How long should this person sit in a cell? b) How long should they then be supervised on licence?

I can’t believe ‘here’s your prison sentence, you will serve half, but your co-defendant who got a bit longer for something a bit worse will do two-thirds, but one of you can go home early on curfew and that one will now do a third and the other a half’ hasn’t worked out for us.
