The best bakery I know of in Baltimore is run by Spanish speakers. Every year for my kids’ birthday party I go down there and struggle to order a cake in my terrible broken Spanish. One time I screwed up and picked up someone else with a similar name’s cake! It is a highlight every year.

Thinking about how one of my friends almost committed suicide at 14 because of conversion therapy. She stormed out of her therapist’s office, got to an overpass bridge, and decided to jump backwards to life instead of forward to death. I don’t know the stories of the ones who jumped forward.

NO WORK, SCHOOL, OR SHOPPING

MINNEAPOLIS - The Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, AFL-CIO along with regional bodies throughout the state, including the Saint Paul Regional Labor Federation, the West Area Labor Council, the North East Area Labor Council and the East Central Labor Council, have joined in solidarity to endorse a powerful unified statewide action on January 23: Day of Truth and Freedom. The Minnesota labor movement is united against the violent ICE occupation of our beloved cities that has directly impacted union members, our workplaces, and our families.
Workers are essential for our communities to function. Since the ICE campaign of terror began, both immigrant and non-immigrant workers have feared for their safety when going to work, being at work, and coming home from work. Union members and our families are being illegally detained at alarming rates, with workplaces and schools facing increased challenges.

Chelsie Glaubitz Gabiou, President of the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, AFL-CIO, shared why union federations are joining this call:
Working people, our schools and our communities are under attack. Union members are being detained commuung to and from work. teanno apart families. Parents are being forced to stay home, students held out of school, fearing for their lives, all while the employer class remains silent. Our labor federations are encouraging everyone to particioate on January 23rd. It's time for every single Minnesotan who loves this state and the notion of truth and freedom to raise their voices and deepen their soldanty for our neighbors and coworkers living under this federal occupation.

Unions join the demands for the day that call for:

• ICE must leave Minnesota now.
• The agent who killed Renee Good must be held legally accountable.
• No additional federal funding for ICE in the upcoming Congressional budget and ICE be investigated for human and constitutional violations of Americans and our neighbors.
• Minnesotan and national companies to become 4th Amendment Businesses — cease economic relations with ICE and refuse ICE entry or using their property for staging grounds.

$I'm writing to you regarding the ongoing abuse fostered by the X and Grok apps, available in your App Store. I'm sure you're well aware of which particular problem I'm talking about — frankly, it's so awful that I hesitate to even describe it in polite terms. You should remove this app from your store, cease to advertise on their platform, and look to distance your business from theirs in every possible way. This is imperative for moral reasons; your own Legal department can advise you why it may also be so for defensive ones. I've been a developer in Apple's ecosystem for twenty years. I have an Apple Design Award, and l've contributed to many projects that have received that award, as well as other forms of recognition by Apple. Today, I'm embarrassed to even say so. It is not a badge of honor, I assure you. In those two decades, I've seen a number of apps and projects get shut down, publicly criticized, and legislated against by Apple, for infractions ranging from minor IP violations to dubious security concerns, or plain arbitrary judgment calls made by your employees. It's often been frustrating, which is understandable - running a business is hard. It is not so hard that you must wring your hands on the issue of X and their disgusting behavior. Apple has often made a decisive stand on ethical matters, and never has the answer been clearer than on this. You know what the right move here is: remove the app now. Your company is strong enough that you can take whatever monetary or PR repercussions you fear. If you choose not to do this, please think about every real, living human being whose abuse you are supporting. I mean truly, actually try to embody their pain and anxiety. I hope you do the obvious thing here.$

I'd also never heard of Hyrum's law, but it is 100% true. I was pairing with someone recently who'd only been in statically typed languages, and they were struggling with the idea in dynamic languages that you sort of– must _implicitly_ trust the code you're calling or library you're using.
