right. this isn’t a somber public execution to show people what it means for the state to murder someone. this is a celebration of violence for its own sake. the fact that the nidal hasan is helpless and infirm is no doubt part of the appeal. bsky.app/profile/spir...

A question I never thought I'd ask: What do I do with my resume in the age of AI? I work in restaurants. It's not an AI field. But, presumably, other people are using AI to gussy up their applications. I won't do that. Do I just accept I'm at some level of disadvantage? I hate all of this.

I just want to remind everybody: You do not have to personally witness atrocities in order to stand against them. Actively choosing to watch an execution (adding to their live stream numbers) can only facilitate their position. This is WRONG. and you dont have to witness to prove it.

32 states permit child marriage. More states allow child marriage and minors to drink alcohol than those that allow access to hormones prescribed by their doctor with the support of their parents. None of it is logical and it's entirely based on moral panic.

There's a place in Vegas called "Cured and Whey" that has great selection of cheese and charcuterie and more (foie gras lobes) I loved that place. But the owner was a super Trumper. I'm so mad how that spoiled what could have been my favorite place to shop. Still haven't found a good replacement.

While I can't prove anything, I assume my mask had a negative impact on my interviewing and hiring prospects. I am, likely, to need a new job soon. Does anyone the in the Covid Aware community have advice for interviewing as a master?

Hello covid community. I will be looking for a new restaurant job soon. The last time I needed a job was 2022, when I re-entered the job market following the outbreak of covid. I found significant problems interviewing in a mask. I had s.much more difficult time finding work than ever before.

Sorry, I dont mean to be aggressive towards you specifically. But, it's a pretty fucking low bar, for jeopardy contestants, to know about one of the most important and impactful and controversial cases of recent times.

I mean if "important in real life" means a case that effects 50% of the population... Or if you mean, maybe the most impacting day to day case the the last decade? Yea... i fucking expect "knowledgeable" people to know who Dobbs in relation to the Supreme Court.

I'm in my forties and have an work issue that I've never faced before. And I don't know what to do. That's not strictly true. I know the correct moral choice. I don't know the best way to advance the moral choice while getting my supervisors to go along with my position, because it will cost money.

The tortuous, botched execution of Christa Pike is truly horrifying. And while it feels unique in some ways, in reality it is also only the latest in a history of botched executions going back years — YEARS — in numerous states. Please know: this is the reality of the death penalty in this country.

Statement from Christa Pike's attorneys Randy Spivey and Kelly Gleason from the TN
Office of the Post Conviction Defender, and Stephen Ferrell and Luke Ihnen from Federal Defender Services of Eastern Tennessee
Tonight the State of Tennessee once again failed to carry out a lawful execution. We take no pleasure in being right, but the concerns raised by Ms. Pike proved to be true: difficult vein access, blown veins, degraded pentobarbital, no emergency medical care available when things inevitably go wrong, all under a protocol that remains veiled in secrecy.
Christa is being treated at a nearby hospital. We have not been informed as to her condition.

Yes, sometimes, it's not exactly what you intended. Or it doesn't match the image you have in your own head. OK. So this particular piece of art is the first piece of your series. This is your "___" period. Fill in the blank with whatever you want. But you ARE an artist. All of us are.

Art isn't a thing that can be made. Art isn't an item or an object or a product. Art is an expression. It is the manifestation of an individual experience and idea. It is 100% absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to "fail" at Art. Because whatever gets produced IS art.

I went yesterday and got both a Covid shot and a regular flu shot at Walgreens. They took my insurance info, and when I asked if there was a co-pay or anything, I was told "most insurances cover the cost of vaccines." Which implies to me that it's no longer free w/o insurance.

Political winds do not only flow from voters to politicians, they go in reverse as well. Democrats running ads like these signal to the general public and their voter base that this issue now has support by both parties, and that hating trans people is publicly acceptable. They do harm to us.

We are never going to have a detailed enough recount of all of ICE's horrors to undertake targeted prosecutions. It needs to be clear that employment in ICE after some specific date will constitute group liability for every action taken by every officer. Every single person at every single level.
