Why did no one on jeopardy get Dobbs v Jackson women’s health last night?!?!? Idk seems like the case overturning Roe is something everyone should know, and definitely people studying trivia. At least Ken seemed disappointed

I'm in my forties and have an work issue that I've never faced before. And I don't know what to do. That's not strictly true. I know the correct moral choice. I don't know the best way to advance the moral choice while getting my supervisors to go along with my position, because it will cost money.

I think I'm on pretty firm ground saying that one can criticize the Supreme Court roundly tonight — BECAUSE I DID SO — but that doesn't mean we just say they're the key to it all ... because that lets far too many people off easy.

The tortuous, botched execution of Christa Pike is truly horrifying. And while it feels unique in some ways, in reality it is also only the latest in a history of botched executions going back years — YEARS — in numerous states. Please know: this is the reality of the death penalty in this country.

NEW: Statement from Christa Pike's lawyers: ”Tonight the State of Tennessee once again failed to carry out a lawful execution. ... Christa is being treated at a nearby hospital. We have not been informed as to her condition.” www.lawdork.com/p/the-big-pr...
Statement from Christa Pike's attorneys Randy Spivey and Kelly Gleason from the TN
Office of the Post Conviction Defender, and Stephen Ferrell and Luke Ihnen from Federal Defender Services of Eastern Tennessee
Tonight the State of Tennessee once again failed to carry out a lawful execution. We take no pleasure in being right, but the concerns raised by Ms. Pike proved to be true: difficult vein access, blown veins, degraded pentobarbital, no emergency medical care available when things inevitably go wrong, all under a protocol that remains veiled in secrecy.
Christa is being treated at a nearby hospital. We have not been informed as to her condition.

My god, SCOTUS acted within hours to clear the way for this execution and Tennessee completely botched it and tortured her. She's still alive. This barbaric practice needs to end. www.tennessean.com/story/news/c...

Political winds do not only flow from voters to politicians, they go in reverse as well. Democrats running ads like these signal to the general public and their voter base that this issue now has support by both parties, and that hating trans people is publicly acceptable. They do harm to us.

We are never going to have a detailed enough recount of all of ICE's horrors to undertake targeted prosecutions. It needs to be clear that employment in ICE after some specific date will constitute group liability for every action taken by every officer. Every single person at every single level.

Marcy Kaptur is the incumbent with a 5 point polling lead so I must assume she put out this ad because this is what she believes.
Tweet from Medium Buying covering a new ad:

@MediumBuying
#OH09: Incumbent Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D) is up on TV with this response spot --

Kaptur to camera:

"We're stuck in another unnecessary war and inflation is making everything worse. But, my opponent won't talk about all that. He'd rather lie about my record"

"Well, here's the truth. I voted with Republicans to keep transgender ideology out of our schools"

There is a screen shot of a white woman in a light blue business suit speaking to two other white people.

The idea that state child welfare offices are removing kids from their parents custody because they aren't being affirmed is a fiction. There is always other abuse that is going on. The right loves the trans angle because it allows them to cover up actual abuse and turn the abusers into victims.

Every time one of these stories comes out, it's shown that the parents were actually abusive. There is an asymmetry where the parents are given a platform by Christian nationalist orgs and Fox News while the state cannot discuss any details due to privacy. So the narrative is set by the parents.

There needs to be an axiom called Younger's law: if you're a parent who runs to Christian nationalist orgs or Fox News to claim you weren't abusive to your trans kid after the state took them away, you are in fact abusive by virtue of nationalizing the story for propaganda.

Donna wasn’t terminal, yet she received expedited Assisted Death for malnourishment. The first time a doctor suggested MAiD to me, it was also for starvation. Something a GI consult or a feeding tube could fix. The Canadian government says MAiD saved $86.9 million over palliative care. Eugenics.

It’s hard for me to share this because people have big feelings and get mad whenever someone criticizes MAiD. But I’m sharing it because our voices matter too. We don’t want anyone to suffer, but we don’t think someone’s choice should come at the expense of our lives.
