I am sick and tired of seeing this shit. DOGE was not a "missed opportunity," it was an intentional effort by billionaire oligarchs to destroy the federal government's capacity to do good things for the American people.

In an SSGI course : they've ackwardly jammed a slide into every chapter of prompts for how to make a chart with Ai. At no point do they trust it to interpret so you're just giving it instructions on what fields to fill in excel. Maybe faster but it's not what ppl actually do once they reach for Ai.

This was always my problem with middle school / high school science projects - whether it was humility or a lack of self confidence, I simply did not believe I could execute the scientific method on something nobody had done before. I wish someone had told me then that the *doing* was the point.

very tired of being told it is the responsibility of urban democratic voters never to risk possibly maybe by chance seeming less than respectful of rural red state life and then watching thousands in nebraska cheer on the president joking about a nuclear strike on me and millions of my neighbors

ChatGPT is adding the signatures of real New Yorker cartoonists to its AI-generated images. So far, I've found the signatures of more than 15 contributors. "It’s slop, and unlike the other slop that I’ve encountered, this is slop that’s pretending to be me." www.niemanlab.org/2026/10/chat...
Left: A cartoon generated by ChatGPT and signed with Emily Flake’s signature that was posted to a Reddit forum in June. Right: A real Emily Flake cartoon published in The New Yorker on August 20, 2026 and licensed via The Cartoon Bank.

There's a strip mall near the town I work in that has a pawn shop, a cash advance place, and a gun store all next to each other. I think about this rural/poverty exploitation conga line often.

I love most of his books but the worst ones are the ones with a lot of 'well actually' dialogue from the skeptical brianiac. Sometimes they have a character of their own, and sometimes it's just Crichton in sunglasses and a trenchcoat whispering "did you know the hockey stick graph was a psyop?"

The term “remigration” is associated with the extreme right and only came into widespread usage in 2023-4. Even Germany’s AfD avoided using the term in 2024 for fear of scaring away voters. Today the US government is celebrating the “victories” it’s racked up in the “ethnic cleansing” column.

A thing I learned not too long ago is that when an LLM selects a token that leads it down an incorrect path (factually), it has no way to back up, or even know that it should back up, it's just on to the next likely bit. Literally every LLM is just posting their way through it. What an image.

I get why people are saying Panda Express isn't Chinese food, but it was started by actual Chinese people—one of whom was a professional chef—based in Chinese cultural traditions. I'm not going to argue it's "authentic," but I am going to argue that authenticity in cuisine is an illusion.

There's basically only "closer to particular traditions" and "more distant from particular traditions." Trying to define authenticity obligates one to assert a specific practice/location/point in time as The Most Authentic™ to which other foods can be compared. Good luck!

When a game studio ships a solid game, it creates TWO valuable products: 1. A solid game. 2. The team that spent years learning how to work together make a game. Because Western studios keep disbanding #2 while development cycles get longer; we will inevitably see less of #1.

The problem that Dems will have in 28 is that they must prosecute & reverse everything this administration did, but the GOP candidates will say “move on” and the complicit American media will also ask, “isn’t it time to move on?”. We have an obligation to make sure nothing like this happens again

In response to this, the DeSantis administration releases a statement saying that they'd make this outrageous cage "even smaller if we could." The Department of Homeland Security's own Inspector General said it violated every detention standard and posed a significant danger to health and safety.
"At least ten million illegal aliens entered our country under the Biden administration. Florida decided to do something about it," Lanfranconi said. "The left-wing media wants to focus on a confinement area for violent criminal aliens who have proven they cannot remain peaceful while awaiting deportation. While it adheres to all federal standards for criminal confinement, we'd make it even smaller if we could."

Unpopular opinion: When someone is factually wrong about something important—eg vaccination—telling them that they’re wrong is treating them with respect. The condescending thing to do is indulge them, act like they have a point, as if the thing you know to be wrong might be at least somewhat right.

The Trump administration accused Jefferson County schools of having 61 "biological males" on girls teams. It turns out there were 0, and no trans girls either. They have to manufacture problems that don't exist.

Screenshot of article text against a dark background reading:
"In March, the administration announced that Jeffco had violated federal nondiscrimination laws by allowing students access to restrooms, locker rooms and sports teams based on their gender identity instead of biological sex. A key data point was that 61 boys were participating on girls' athletic teams. The figure startled even district officials, mostly because, they said, there were no transgender girls competing on girls' teams.
The district said the Trump administration had misinterpreted the information. Though the records show male participants on girls' teams, they were team managers and mascots, not athletes. District officials said the federal government also may have confused a cross-country roster in which the same coach oversees separate programs for boys and girls."

I'd always assumed that Stadia was supposed to function as a kind of 'killer app' for Google Fiber. Like, here's something you can do with all that extra bandwidth and you're already tied into our data stream. Then google decided being an ISP wasn't worth the trouble and Stadia loses its safety net
