I would love to @dieworkwear.bsky.social's analysis of this outfit. This is Toronto mayoral candidate Brad Bradford, who enjoys saying whatever he thinks will get him elected.
Brad Bradford, a perennial Toronto mayoral candidate, wears a salmon-coloured suit with what looks like an American flag tie. He has on brown dress shoes and no socks. He is handing out candy to children on a city street.

OMG this Bruce McGuigan is a ridiculous clown. Boring and competent is much better than a Monty Python Mayor. Clover Point is a TEMPORARY LOW-COST, 'Tactical Urbanism' intervention. Imagine what city staff would be dealing with if this guy was elected Mayor of Victoria 🧵 #yyj
But what happened at Clover Point has divided Victorians. I don’t believe that division was inevitable. Much of it came from how the changes were rolled out and from a process that did not engage citizens early enough, broadly enough or meaningfully enough before fundamental decisions were made.

Planning to head down to ReconciliACTION Oak Bay's all candidate forum tonight. Not much candidate activity so far on Bluesky (but then 1 council candidate doesn't even have a website 🤷🏼‍♀️) - but we'll see if we can share out some key pieces for folks who couldn't make it! #yyjpoli #OakBayBC #bcpoli

Oh absolutely, it's enormously different. And I'm obviously more careful when I'm walking or cycling! But I've seen so much bad behaviour from drivers that I no longer trust any of them, no matter how I'm moving.

It's so exciting to have a progressive mayoral candidate in Oak Bay! Sam Holland shares my values and priorities of attracting family doctors to our community, adding housing, and addressing climate change. oakbaynews.com/2026/09/17/n...
A photo of Sam Holland, a young white man with curly light brown hair and glasses. He is smiling and sitting in a casual, forward position. He's wearing jeans and a corduroy button-down open over a white t-shirt, and the backdrop of the photo is a plywood wall.

The myth Alberta 'subsidizes' the rest of Canada is the most powerful meme in the separatist armoury. But it's utterly false. I show that most Albertans get more back from federal programs than they personally pay in federal taxes, for @thetyee.ca: thetyee.ca/Opinion/2026... #abpoli /2

Brad Bradford says that 50% of roadway cannot be allocated to 1% of users. Good thing it isn't. Only about 1% of all of Toronto's road space is allocated to bike lanes. I showed my work, and used Danforth (the lanes he fought so hard to get added) as an example.

I’m going to be canvassing around Carnarvon Park this week, a significant public space that needs to be renovated But after years of discussion and with the design almost finalized, last week Council came very close to sending the project back to the drawing board. Let me tell you about it …

Hey American friends, help spread the word: Canada has an immigration stream for HC workers. "For Tyson, the targeted recruitment worked. It took him just 3 months to get his B.C. nursing licence through a fast-track process, and 8 days to receive a provincial nomination for permanent residence."

just heard gasoline is apparently quite expensive these days and was thinking, huh, maybe people should buy less of it? but then i check the top-selling vehicles in the US and am mystified. clearly, buying less gasoline is nobody's priority, least of all US car makers and their customers.

I have been bitterly disappointed in the federal government's failure to step in as Ford destroys Ontario's health care, education, green spaces, etc. Both Trudeau and Carney should have intervened.

i don't think we spend enough imagining how quiet and idyllic life would be if we flipped the ratio of bike/transit : car infrastructure.

I'm not a Carney person; he's much too conservative for me. But I find your refusal to acknowledge Ford's complicity in this to be bizarre, if not suspicious. Yes, Carney should step in and stop him. That doesn't excuse the Ford government's actions.

I always try to explain to my 9-year old what the various candidates for election stand for. "We won't be able to ride to the Kingsway anymore" makes summarizing Bradford's platform pretty easy.

So much cycling infrastructure is only designed for traditional bikes. If you ride a recumbent, a cargo bike, a trike, etc. - too bad for you!

What, like it's hard?
My 12yo son, dressed in running shoes, sweatpants, a puffy coat, and a Santa hat over his bike helmet, pauses with his bike on a snowy sidewalk to admire a giant Santa inflatable in front of a house. Granted, this is December in Toronto, not January - but the principle is the same.

What, like it's hard?
Selfie of me on Yonge Street in Toronto. It's actively snowing, and the roads are covered in a light dusting of snow. You can see my bike's handlebars and seat in the near background, and people walking on the sidewalk behind me. I'm wearing a bike helmet with a light on the front and a winter cycling cap under it; the brim of my cap has large snowflakes on it. I'm also wearing a puffy jacket and fleece scarf, and there are snowflakes in my hair. My cheeks are pinker than usual from the brisk air and light exercise.

My hot take on drivers encountering any vulnerable road user is that even if cyclists/ pedestrians etc aren’t following the law they still don’t deserve to be hit/injured/killed or honked at and actually should be yielded to in most situations. This is unpopular opinion in our society sadly.

Going car-free is great, but don't forget about families who could use a cargo bike (or minicar) as their second or third vehicle. The potential market is much, much bigger!
