Customer: I asked ChatGPT what I should read and -- Me: Well I'm sure its advice is *great* because LLMs are all just massive databases of books stolen from me and my fellow writers. Customer: Wow I did not know that. Keep telling people. Also if you want to know what to read, ask a bookseller.

Yeah. I got hold of a second-hand copy of Struwelpeter a few years ago. This a book I was somewhat in awe of as a child. I asked my kids to read it and they found the horrible ends of basically all the main characters to be miserable. A cross between Saw and GoT.

Totally. Zuckerberg is completely amoral and only cares about privacy, user mental health or generally anything ethical when it becomes a big scandal that blows up in his face.

Private equity turns to financial engineering to lure insurance billions. Using collateralised fund obligations (CFOs), slicing and dicing debts, loans, to create dodgy instruments. Back to the practices that brought the 2008 crash. Who will bail them out this time? archive.ph/vrBQn

Apparently more than one outlet has been doing the bizarre "interview AI generated actor Tilly Norwood" thing and on Piers Morgan it glitches out and starts speaking Chinese. I promise its much, much funnier than it sounds.

And the video quality screams "AI vid from early 2025. In my own work, with reasonably careful prompting, I have found it easy to get LLMs to write prose in a specific tone and form. I don't use LLMs for video generation but I have seen much better stuff in the last six months than Tilly.

I had intentionally avoided watching anything involving Tilly Norwood up to now because the whole concept is so abysmal. But I watched this clip and was surprised by how blatantly "AI 101" she is. Her speech is fully of cheesy AI tells, such as summarizing what you asked before replying.

Due to colleagues and business partners jumping on the "write everything with AI" bandwagon over the last 6 months, I find that my mind instinctively picks up on AI-generated prose. To the extent that it puts me off reading sources I used to love such as @electrek.co .

Ooh "faketriot", that's an excellent word. Farage, Yaxley-Lennon, etc. Performative culture war patriotism wedded to self-interested tax and residence domicile in the very countries one professes to disdain. Did you coin it?

AFAIK, N. America is the one continent where no major powers have had a war with each other since the start of the 20th century. (Obvs, leaving aside the many US interferences with C. America). As someone who doesn't live there, seems great. What an own goal by the orange buffoon.

Sth that has been damaged, and often lost, is the 'semi-technical sales assistant'. I.e. you want to buy Thing X, you go to a shop w/ an owner-operator or 'old hand' employee. They help you choose from a bewildering array of products . Not based on corporate talking points but lived experience.

Oh, honey . . . You place your children in the custody of priests, pastors, and youth pastors, a demographic proven most likely to molest children. You are *not* protecting and nurturing your children—you're endangering them. And shamelessly lying about Islam and feminism isn't going to change that.

A fair deal for waste pickers in the Global South.
Repa connects individuals and businesses with people who collect and sort plastic waste for a living. Working with local entrepreneurs, mobile technology, community agents and trusted transporters, we support fair, sustainable and circular markets for waste plastic in countries where plastic pollution is overwhelming communities.
