With or without colour? The #sunlight made shadows creating an #alien like landscape. The #bacteria like cells stand out more in colour. I used found objects to #sculpt this from #airdryclay. #marchintolandscapes #MakersmARTch #SmArtist #BlueSkyArtShow #ArtYear

Shells, sticks and other found objects were pressed into a clay tile to sculpt a landscape. Placing the tile in the sunlight has created strong shadows which gives the appearance of craters on the surface of a planet.

The same tile has been painted in pastel tones to mimic the shapes created by bacteria. I looked at images of bacteria and viruses from under microscopes for inspiration. These are not accurate representations but am artistic interpretation.

#MakersmARTch - Ink I did this piece for Inktober 2018 and honestly I still love it. Maybe I should rework it digitally into a final print.

#MakersmARTch - Being among other artsy things, a calligraphy FANATIC - #ink is the prompt where I could provide a thousand things. So here's one that's worth a thousand other works to me. The first calligraphy based commission I ever did. The unedited original description is in the alt. #special

So here we have my other custom piece, and my first commission in the calligraphy freestyle technique. There's a lot more to this one though. Titled "Freedom", it technically displays what my friend said he enjoyed about my work and in aspects of art in general, with a decorative pen border, geometric corners and elegant stroke making in the main body.

As a metaphor, it represents Charles Calvin's passion for animal activism. The light spatter of red in the negative space to represent the slaughter and suffering, and hidden within the confusion of the path to greener pastures, the formed letters which spell "freedom" are scattered throughout the piece and highlighted with gold. The freedom is hard to find even within the strong cause itself, but it is there if you search, and work, and believe in it. I am so happy that he believed in me as an artist, and this piece elevated what I have learned so far to a new level I hope to improve on more in the future.
