Why does Edmonton bother holding elections anymore? Infill. Bike lanes. Photo radar. Threats to step in if council doesn’t fund police the way it wants, and they keep stacking the police commission with its own appointees. Edmontonians elect representatives, and the province overrides them.

Love that Edmontonians can elect councillors who support bike lanes and infill, only for the province to override them. We’re holding a separation referendum because the Premier won’t let anyone “silence the voices of hundreds of thousands of Albertans.” Unless they live in Edmonton, apparently.
