It’s really hot here for those of us that are prairie city kids.

Picture is a glass of beer offset to the left side and the inside of ball cap that is all mesh (f’n obviously) taking up to center and right of the frame.

Those who only look at the picture won’t know that the ball cap is from Tree O Six.

“Over time, woke came to be used to refer to a broader awareness of social inequalities such as sexism and denial of LGBTQ rights.” From Wikipedia This is the “wokeism” she wants to end. Smith means what she says here. Ending the era of trying to address social inequities is at the UCP’s core.
Screenshot from Wikipedia on the history of the term “woke.”

“Woke is an adjective derived from African-American English used since the 1930s or earlier to refer to awareness of racial prejudice and discrimination, often in the construction stay woke. The term acquired political connotations by the 1970s and gained further popularity in the 2010s with the hashtag #staywoke. Over time, woke came to be used to refer to a broader awareness of social inequalities such as sexism and denial of LGBTQ rights. Woke has also been used as shorthand for some ideas of the American Left involving identity politics and social justice, such as white privilege and reparations for slavery in the United States”

And, as we’ve come to expect, this will be steeped in loaded rhetoric and selectively chosen facts. The base framing is grievance politics and the “other” as the enemy that takes advantage of the “average” Albertan.

“Although neither Khelif nor Lin are transgender, the controversy became closely linked to broader public debates about trans women's inclusion in women's sports… J. K. Rowling, referenced the incident in political commentary about women in sports, often incorrectly suggesting Khelif was male.”

K. Rowling,[11][non-primary source needed] referenced the incident in political commentary about women in sports, often incorrectly suggesting Khelif was male.”

This may be the most important graph of them all.
Graph showing Government of Alberta Per Capita Spending (Total government expense divided by population and adjusted for inflation) largely trending down except for the first year of COVID.

This guy? “…several Alberta doctors promoting vaccination and masking misinformation on social media, including Dr. Rashad Chin, an Edmonton emergency room doctor.” www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Screenshot of CBC news article with the following highlighted, “CBC News was directed to several Alberta doctors promoting vaccination and masking misinformation on social media, including Dr. Rashad Chin, an Edmonton emergency room doctor.

Chin's Twitter feed is filled with retweets that question COVID-19 lockdowns and the value of vaccines, including videos of People's Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier.

Bernier and the PPC are vocal critics of vaccine passports and mask mandates, arguing the party is standing up for freedom of choice.”

UCP: “In the meantime, the government will continue putting Alberta’s students first”
Screenshot of Finance Minister Nate Horner’s hilariously-timed reply to Alberta Teachers contract negotiations. It reads, “In the meantime, the government will continue putting Alberta’s students first.”

@sarahkendzior.bsky.social in 2016 “We can debate each other and come up with ways to improve our country. We can scream at each other and mock each other and tell each other our political choices are terrible. You will miss those days, they may end soon.” thecorrespondent.com/5696/were-he...
Quote from Sarah Kendzior’s November 18,2016 essay, We’re heading into dark times. This is how to be your own light in the Age of Trump.

“Though our speech is often challenged, we can still speak. We can debate each other and come up with ways to improve our country. We can scream at each other and mock each other and tell each other our political choices are terrible. You will miss those days, they may end soon.”
