Did not know this - thank you. This somehow now pulls all of those books/shows into proper perspective. I never understood why I had mostly Christian/conservative family members *LOVE* the show and books. I just thought it stopped at the adoration for Michael Landon. Guess it's deeper than that.

I'm 44yo (elder millennial LFG), and until July 2024, I never attempted the fashion choice of growing a beard. Always felt like it wasn't me, or it would look bad. Decided to try on a whim, and I've gotten tons of compliments on it. Things like this reinforce my whim as a good decision.
