I don’t work with XML in anger much anymore, but when I do I wonder how I could ever forget how woefully inadequate and frustrating Erlang/OTP’s built-in support tends to be. (Today’s gripe brought to you by me trying to use `xmerl_xsd` to validate against a spec that `xmllint` deals with handily.)

I have been having the *best* time building a terrible, old school MUD (with new school twists) using #gleamlang lately. I highly recommend indulging yourself in nostalgic rebuild projects from time-to-time—even ones you may never share—they’re a blast!

Very excited to be planning a return trip to South Korea next year… and to be going in the Spring. I largely grew up in the deserts of the US Southwest and humidity of the Southeast—but nothing could have prepared me for touring South Korea during last year’s heatwaves.

The data showed that people who ate as little as one hot dog a day when it comes to processed meats had an 11% greater risk of type 2 diabetes and a 7% increased risk of colorectal cancer than those who didn’t eat any. And drinking the equivalent of about a 12-ounce soda per day was associated with an 8% increase in type 2 diabetes risk and a 2% increased risk of ischemic heart disease.
