Perfectly ingenious solution (and entirely logical). If your mom can get past “proper”, she might be proud of you for it. 🙂

I feel like there’s a word for all the bad things happening with the economy right now. It’s almost like the MSM doesn’t want to say what that word is because of who’s sitting in the Oval Office 🤔 apnews.com/article/jobs...

Hi, I’m a sighted alt text user! Here are some reasons I use it: - Slow Internet on an airplane - I’m over 40, I have no idea who that celebrity is - Bluesky broke images again - My vision sucks and that text is too small to read otherwise - Conveys further context and authorial intent

😂 @ Alt Text I never got into any of the cartoon Hulks, though I grew up with the live-action show and liked it rather a lot. So while her listed profession is news to me, I’m glad they made a female character whose more “ordinary” alter ego is also powerful, if in a different way. 💯

Using AI to do a crime does not absolve you of criminality. AI is just a computer program. It's already illegal to use computers to do crimes. Even other people's computers. Furthermore, AI is unnecessarily unsafe; using it to "accidentally" commit a crime should add charges of criminal negligence.

Alt text for quoted image: Two photos side by side. Left photo includes 3 small cats of varying shades, curled into 3 adorable and symmetrical balls of fur, all lined up side by side on a blanket or sweater that is lying on a couch or chair.😻 Right photo includes 3 small pumpkins of matching colors!

(Sadly, I do miss out on some really cool sites sometimes, because if I can’t focus on the actual text I’m trying to read due to videos or banners or rollovers, it’s not worth the mental energy that it takes me to read it. Might work for a lot of people; doesn’t work for me.)

Learning and Laughing @bridgesofwords.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
It varies from day to day, but only one “pop up” was that offer; the other two were those distracting banners at the bottom rolling over the text I tried to read, telling me who had just “bought/downloaded/added to cart!”, like I know these people or have to jump on their bandwagon. I couldn’t. 😵‍💫

Learning and Laughing @bridgesofwords.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Wow. I wanted to read that article, but I had to stop after the third pop-up banner trying to force-feed me FOMO. It started off well (the writing part, that is, while the site’s algorithm, ironically, chased me away).

Ah, so after Amazon purchased the then-best place to talk about books, so they could shill their own on it, now they’re copying The StoryGraph’s system? I didn’t realize there was so much demand for the quarter-star scale. /s Seriously, though, I hope the Zon doesn’t buy TSG, too. 😒

Working on the next stories in my "10 Cent Universe" composed of sci-fi mashups. The primary series is a hardboiled noir on a generation ship. The other is a western set on the planet the ship eventually settles.

Right?!? Like, if they can link the series, they should at least get the author right. It’s such a low bar to clear. 🤦

UGH! I got a book re-attributed to the correct author by requesting help from them once. I hope it’s just as easy for you to do the same, if annoying.

Maybe there should be a Bat Scale like the Pepper Scale only for cozy horror? One bat: Scooby Doo Two bats: Bunnicula Three bats: Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking Four bats, unless it's five: Someone to Build a Nest In? Five bats: Someone else will have to name this, I'm hiding under covers XD

I seem to remember looking forward to the much-later follow-up and then feeling like it was a bit predictable and not especially funny. I rewatched the original and thought it held up fairly well after the same number of years, just not #2.

I love your character answers in other posts so far, but I’d almost be worried about an Ask Me Anything (if that’s what you meant!) because we’re in the midst of a trilogy you’re writing, and I’d be loath to spoil even a hint of anything by accident. Still sounds fun in general, though!

This is a helpful short thread, but CW for SA in recent news, even though it’s awful that none of it is NEW. Blaming the victim, discrediting SA reporters (sometimes even by news reporters! 🤬), and shrugging it off are all ways of keeping the status quo strong. All of which is utterly unacceptable!

I'm not saying every brand in Canada has to be a franglish pun, but Milk 2 Go/Lait's Go is a true masterpiece.
An image from the Lait's Go website with the text "Lait's Go: Fabriques au Canada, avec du lait de fermes Canadiennes" Below, three Lait's Go milk-on-the-go bottles in different flavours splash down into milk. It's milk all the way down, people.

For the record, I really liked it and see what all the fuss is about. But even a *monthly* fee to Amazon could better buy multiple books, so I’ll be holding off on the rest of the series. I thought ads would be enough to cover it but misjudged the behemoth in an optimistic moment. 😂

Learning and Laughing @bridgesofwords.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Saw that Spider-Noir was free with ads on my old (free) Amazon account & watched E1 during my morning workout. Went to queue up E2 during cooldown & realized it’s just the pilot that’s free. Won’t pay $157 to watch one show, so I’ll trust @authoredrobins.bsky.social that it’s all that good for now.🤷

I learned so much work and life skills by doing the grunt work myself for years. All those things AI companies deem "automatable". Do I "enjoy" doing my taxes? Reading contracts? Managing files? Not really. But I'm now relatively good at a bunch of "adult" stuff that don't seem that daunting now.

You shouldn’t even have my number, because I’m almost religious about never giving it to anyone, especially for marketing purposes. Which means you’re blasting the whole country. I’m well aware of the posturing by most politicians and your love of money and need for attention. Fuck all the way off.
