If you’ve been tear-gassed by your own government, my office wants to hear from you. Chemical weapons that are banned on the battlefield have no place on the streets of Portland. Go to tinyurl.com/RestrictTearGas to see how you can help make Portlander safer & healthier. #RightToBreathe #Portland
An illustration of three tacos and a lime wedge on a lime green and navy blue background. The text says, “Your tacos should come with spice, not your air. No tear gas on our streets. You can help pass legislation banning chemical weapons in Portland.”

On the heels of some big structural changes to city government a year and a half ago, a new poll is out showing just 22% of Portland voters feel the city's government is effective. Nearly 40% believe it is not effective.

Survey: Portlanders don’t feel represented by newly representative form of government
When asked if there is currently someone on council who represents them, 31% said yes – a nearly 10% drop from the same question researchers posed to voters last year. And 36% of people said they didn’t feel represented by a Portland councilor – a nearly 10% increase from last year’s data.

The City’s own ordinance establishes a continuity of operations between Zenith and I Squared. In Section 10, the ordinance says “ISQ intends to retain all facility employees that are currently employed by Zenith to maintain technical expertise at the facility post-sale.”

We need this amendment because I Squared has committed to expanding the facility into a regional fuel hub with the permissions Zenith has received. Read that again! Expanding the facility at the CEI Hub!

This amendment would give any Portland resident the right to “commence a civil action seeking recovery of monetary damages, injunctive relief, or specific performance of” the Franchise Agreement. In other words, Portland residents could enforce the franchise agreement if the Mayor refuses to do so.
