Right?! That’s what got me into it initially. As the season went on, I realized I was cheering against my actual team based on my fantasy team, and the entertainment greatly diminished. Add in friends clearly checked out, with incomplete rosters & easy wins for random games, & the fun was done fast.

Perhaps originally it was simple fun, though likely only for a small subset. Money was always part of the equation, & broke the incentives for everything. Online gambling used “fantasy sports” as a wedge to open the door to the scourge of legalized online sports gambling.

Popular simple ways to liven up bracket picks include mascot battles & favorite team colors. My family bracket pool uses “chalk” picks (favorites advance in every round) for a person who wants to follow along w/o participating. They serve as the control. Never win, but remain in the hunt a while.

If it works, that's pretty cool; I didn't think
would ever see this implemented (I also didn't
expect LLMs to exist).
However, this is not something you can PR
here, or anywhere. You sent me a nearly 50k
line diff, unasked for, completely LLM built, and
you somehow expect me to review it. There is
SO MUCH unrelated garbage here. Never
minding all of the docs and Python, you've
somehow touched basically all of the upstream
HDL, which already had MSU1 support, so idk
what in the world you're doing.
This kind of behavior is not acceptable. You are
infringing on the time and brainpower of people
by pushing "your" content that little/no of your
brainpower went into; completely unrequested.
I hope for the sake of all responsible
maintainers that you do not do such a thing
again.
Again, I think it's cool that you and your LLM
supposedly got this to work. It has no place in
my world.

Nathan W. Pyle has a comic that expresses this well.
Four part comic of two eagles seated in high-back chairs, having a conversation. One is reading a newspaper, and the other is drinking coffee.

Text reads:
Do you think the owl is a predator?

Of course not. He’s never bothered me.

Exactly.

<Panel of silence.>

In final panel, the original questioner concludes: “No idea what Mr. Mouse was going on about.”

Caption from Nathan W. Pyle’s FB page: “The eagle in the cartoon doesn't believe the mouse has a problem because the eagle hasn't experienced the problem. Refusing to see outside of your own experiences is the definition of exercising privilege, and in a negative way.”

The religious right is steadily expanding its definition of what is sexual — and restricting what it deems acceptable in public spaces. Tech companies, in want of less oversight, are taking the hint. The deplatforming that started with sex workers / kink / trans has come for gay bars.

Amazing work by @propublica.org and partners illustrating the lack of regulations around microschools in some states. www.propublica.org/article/prop...
In Arkansas, all it took was a few clicks on the Arkansas secretary of state website, $45 and an American flag to form a bona fide private school with the Arkansas Times.
We established a school with Mountain State Spotlight in West Virginia after filing our new school's name and location with authorities on a piece of notebook paper, then exchanging a few emails.
And with The Assembly in North Carolina, we filed an online notice of intent to open a private school at Ponysaurus Brewing Co. in Durham, while perched on its metal bar stools, eyeing glasses of a crisp kolsch.

A lot of society, but esp. the US and the UK, overemphasizes individual effort and problem-solving instead of systemic changes and better government regulations. And it's easier to hyperfixate on the choices of these individuals than focus on how institutions and gov policies discriminate and harm.
