Most importantly: thank God. Secondly: I'm following an unfolding news story on a social media site without each update being clogged by conspiracy theories, porn bots, or celebrations of attempted autocracy getting forced to the top of my feed. I'm a fan of this change of pace.

There really needs to be some kind of "I already voted please leave me alone" database for early voters. I sent my mail-in ballot last week and I'm still getting piles of junk mail and texts begging me to vote.

When I see someone say "Modern games are too political" it makes me wonder if they don't have ability to see the messages people weave into their writing. It also makes me think they have a message they are trying to write themselves, and hide with subtlety.

Sometimes political messages in games are more subtle, including in the games I mentioned above. It takes being able to see the meaning painted within a story. I am also an enjoyer of Star Trek and it also has varying amounts of subtlety in its messages.

FFVII and its Remake both also hammer in this message incredibly hard, as well as sprinkling in some anti-corporate and anti-fascist messaging. Especially more blatantly in the Remake.

I have been playing through the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters and was reminded how often the crystals in those early games were used as an analogy for taking care of the planet. Overusing and abusing natural resources or co-opting them for war leads to destruction.

-Continuing on from the first post- I say this as someone who originally enjoyed the games when I was in my most apolitical part of my life, but was still able to understand it had things to say.

Metal Gear has nuance and subtilty in some of its messages, buts its major messages are so incredibly blatantly spelled out I wonder how people see it as an example of apolitical writing?

Hey it's me, Sonic the Hedgehog! Never talk to the police! Cops act friendly to get you comfortable and talking - not to help you, but in hopes you'll incriminate yourself. No good! The less you say, the harder it is for them to win in court. Stopped by 12? Invoke the 5th - and lawyer up - fast!

Gimmick! Special Edition released this week, finally making it widely available. Its very cute, short, difficult and worth playing. You spike a star that bounces around to take out enemies or to use as a platform to get to new areas. Thankfully featuring a rewind button to help ease new players in.

Classic Game Rec: Crusader of Centi Wonderful little game that appears to be a Zelda clone at first glance, but really comes into its own as you play. You equip animal friends to help you throughout the game, and the story gets kinda wild at points. It's on the Switch Online Genesis if you have it.

Just cause I see folks waking up and seeing the BLUESKY IS AI TRAINING ART panic threads: They use AI Content Moderation services, which Twitter and Tumblr and every other social media site does. The platform they license is Hive and is also used by Cara, which is aggressively anti-AI art theft.
