It’s really telling to me that for as much as EU officials are talking about the threat of becoming reliant on US LLM’s basically no one is proposing to fund open source model development like China has. That is despite a push for open source in parts of the EU on in other areas.

If I were an MLS FO I'd be a lot more comfortable paying for a Mykhi Joyner, a Darius Randell or a Kevin Gbamblé than I would be taking a flier on an import who's going to need at least six months just to be comfortable in a new country/culture.

FWIW paying cash for Joviljic is MUCH more exciting than the best hypothetical boring widow I came up with. The most competent but least “exciting” combo I could think of was trading cash for Hennadii Synchuk from Montreal, trading a load of gam for Preston Judd, and getting Obed back on loan.

I’ve told people this privately but will say it here. The biggest problem when you look at MLS rosters isn’t the usage of allocation money. It’s the fact that the max budget charge is capped at a certain amount and your average annual budget charge can’t exceed it year after year
