hueful has better types now and can convert to/from CMYK (using CSS level 5 `device-cmyk`) 🎨
A snippet of TypeScript converting the RGB values `[255, 20, 10]` to HSL using `hueful.convert`. Then going on to convert the HSL to CMYK using `hueful.convert` again.

Per this article, Google's electricity use grew ~40% in 2025 to 43 TWh. (Note: *all* of Google, which is much more than AI or US.) For context, I believe 43 TWh ~= everyone in the US • leaving one 14W LED light on all year, or • using 14 min of microwave/kettle per day. ketanjoshi.co/2026/07/01/g...

Google’s exponential path to climate-wrecking digital bloat
Google’s latest report reveals a completely unprecedented rise in energy consumption – more than any of us expected. Generative AI is a climate carbon bomb.

Young male elephants stay close to their dads for over a decade, and games like trunk wrestling and chasing help them learn hierarchy before striking out alone.

herdr is my main work space, while I use Aerospace to quickly move to Zed when I need to get into specific files or manual stuff like codebase searches, symbol oriented stuff, etc

yeah there was a lot of friction for me too, it took me a lot of forcing myself to get there. but i still use ai stuff by cli like opencode

Yeah I feel you there are cases time and again when I open the Cursed editor with >500-2000ms initialisation time at work too

Yep I'm going to upgrade the work packages to ts7. However, ever since being inspired by Dillon mulroy to build custom AI coding tooling I find it less plausible to switch to cursor for ai. I get 1500 a month for it but don't use it. For manual editing Zed/nvim win anyway

Caveat is I'm working in a monorepo at work, ymmv if you don't hit the "ceiling". And this isn't even a big monorepo it's pretty basic. At one point I switched to Zed for manual editing and cursor for AI. Felt like Cursor was just too good at AI to ever leave, luckily not any more

I used to have the same feeling, now I feel anyone who can unironically use an application that calls itself a code editor which has more than perceptible lag on basic operations like find, go to definition, scrolling huge files, etc just needs to honestly try other tools for a week

This sounds like I'm joking but I'm not: the idea that this much structured data could potentially get flattened into plain text feels like a major loss. (Someone should write something about web preservation vis-a-vis the history of architectural preservation)

the focus on whether you read the code or not is the wrong thing to look at if you have software you're responsible for, you should be able to answer questions from memory about how it works the expectations for how well you can do this should not be any different now

When you scroll a 2D scroller on the web, the browser may ignore some minor scroll deltas in the non-main scrolling axis when the user’s intent was to scroll only one axis. Sometimes this “railing” gets in the way … and with `scroll-axis-lock: none`, you can soon remove it 😊 brm.us/scroll-axis-...

If you work in tech, you'll want to read the ~40-page short novel, Profession, by Isaac Asimov. If the availability of intelligence was instant, and learning things the "hard way" was considered a waste: what would the things most valued by society be? Hard to believe it's a 1957 novel.
