Just a reminder that people don’t always realize they were raped in the immediate aftermath. It can take hours, days, months, and even years to realize you were raped, and it doesn’t make it any less true. There are many kinds of responses, including fawning and trying to appease your rapist

Farage always sides with the money. His opponents will highlight it, his supporters will dismiss it. But there’s nothing remarkable about it Burnham’s response is an issue because a) he’s the PM and b) the Labour Party are supposed to the ones supporting people *against* the tyranny of the wealthy

so like, I think if you are a rapist, you have the responsibility to make it possible for your victim to avoid you without that being energy intensive and restrictive. I don’t think being a public figure is very compatible with this.

Later today protesters will demand 'No Palantir in our NHS'
While they protest, someone, somewhere will get an operation scheduled earlier, a cancer diagnosis quicker, a loved one home from hospital sooner - thanks to the software that those protesters would switch off.
Here is what you won't hear. Trusts using the software have recorded:
• 117,000 additional operations
• 14.3 per cent reduction in discharge delays for long stay patients
• 5.6 per cent improvement in the number of people receiving a cancer diagnosis within 28 days
As a more articulate person once said: 'certain facts, although in a sense known to be true, are inadmissible.'

The feeling in the game is that the only appropriate punishment for City would be forced divestment. The only body able to enact that is the Independent Football Regulator, which comes under the Culture for Media and Sport. And then the Prime Minister says this: www.theguardian.com/football/202...

or what letting them off the hook looks like. The government have already instituted the Independent Football Regulator precisely because fans had lost trust in the League to manage this stuff itself.

I’m not really sure who “the League” is in this sense The breaches run to 2018. The current CEO took over in 2019. The current chair only took office in 2013 and she’s credited with being a significant reason why this case was brought rather than being swept under the carpet.

Have now slowly re-read the ruling, and it is even more damning than at first reading. The ruling pretty much sets out Manchester City was fraudulent on a systemic long-term basis. Not just mere non-compliance, but ‘concealments’ and ‘disguises’. Also some MCFC witnesses were ‘dishonest’.

I agree with the perspective. But my focus would be on not letting City off the hook first. Punishment isn’t decided and once it is it’ll be appealed. There’s still a chance the “irredeemable” will be back to business as usual in a year or two. No eye needs taking off that ball til it’s pocketed.

Sponsorship deals, bonuses, even transfers due to sales of players because of lost revenue to the club. And then the impact on those players, their careers, their families. It truly is incalculable. So yeah, City fans, players, keep lauding it over us - all you’re doing is damming yourselves.

Because City did take those things away from others. Players, fans, clubs all lost out because of their cheating. And not just the joy of winning a cup here or a run in Europe there. For many of the opposing players the consequences of City’s fraud will have been huge.

Re: previous post. This is what the likes of Noel Gallagher and Rodri seems to miss when they say people can’t take away the joy they felt and the experiences they had. In saying this they are providing the evidence as to why the punishment needs to be as severe as possible.
