Finally got time to go through the full report and it knocked my socks off. Cohesive argument that housing, insurance, energy, and transportation costs should be thought of as one interconnected issue, and we should tackle as a package by building smarter in low hazard areas at SCALE.
1) Cut red tape specifically to allow homes of all shapes and sizes in connected, lower-hazard
established neighborhoods.
2) Put public land in lower-hazard established neighborhoods to work.
3) Simplify public financing so dollars for income-restricted housing and starter homes go
further.
4) Make disaster-prepared construction the norm.
5) Build lower utility costs into new homes from the start and make homes critical energy
infrastructure.
6) Align utility reforms with housing affordability and grid reliability.

I for one think it’s bad that the president can just say crazy stuff all day every day and 99% of it doesn’t make the news because we’ve normalized having an insane president

I don’t think impeaching Trump would result in removal, but if Dems take back the House I think a good case can be made for impeaching and removing this asshole and RFK jr.

You know what bugs me? Any Democratic President making a move to try to align the US with the metric system would be met with fierce, fierce resistance. But if Trump just said we should switch, those *same people* would be saying it’s long overdue and treating it as the most important thing.

Not the point, but also for your company to have any “Profits” it needs to take in more revenue than it is spending, which certainly does not apply to the US at this point.

Oh for gods sake. First, while it’s true that Florida has the highest ACA enrollment in the country, no, there are not "5 x more people enrolled in Obamacare in Florida than live in the state." Around 19% of the total population is enrolled, which is high but hardly over 100%. 1/5th =/= 5x.

The US already got a do over. A mulligan. A second chance. Much of the world, especially US allies, were ready to write off Trump’s first term as a fluke. The American people’s choice to put him back in power—as a convicted felon, after an openly bigoted, anti-democracy campaign—showed it was not.

I get why, in trying to push back against fascist or quasi-fascist movements, there's a lot of reverse trolling and using their own tactics against them. But, it does suck. In general, I don't like having my views repped by someone doing internet clapback in the style of a 14 year old.

I disagree with this view. Either AI ends up useful, in which case it *will* be built out and I’d rather it be powered by renewables, or it doesn’t in which case having a bunch of built-out renewables will help reduce carbon output. Either way, spending ai money on renewables ends up a good thing.

This is an awful characterization. I’m not saying it didn’t happen in some quarters, but for me and the vast majority of my contemporaries that felt the Islamophobia that followed 9/11 was terrible, the “shared bond” was about the trauma we witnessed and wanting to help each other.

The extent that the craziest people have taken over the DSA moniker from Sanders/AOC and are publishing things in their name has to be something pushed by conservatives or others that don’t want Democrats to be elected. The mix of arguably-mainstream ideas and craziest revolutionary shit is insane.
