I know from experience it can be a difficult time to be a male survivor of SA, DV, etc. Especially as a member of a marginalized group that is routinely denied their masculinity by white supremacy, including disabled, trans, and other men and mascs. Still doesn't excuse being a little shit about it.

Anyway my theory is there have been a lot of other viruses that had long term effects similar to long covid, and scientists either failed to identify them or their existence was downplayed or even covered up. They probably contributed to a lot of cases of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, and Fibromyalgia.

My parents weren't hard on me with an ideal of toughening me up in mind. They were cruel to me because cruelty was what they were inclined to in the moment, moment after moment. It wasn't all they were capable of. Wasn't all they knew. Just didn't feel like putting in the effort to be better people.

I got rid of my car ~20 years ago, shifting to a 1 car household with my girlfriend, now wife. If we had continued w/2 cars, we couldn’t have afforded to buy our current home or rent our last one. And there’s no way we could have afforded childcare. Moving to 1 car absolutely changed our lives.

I regret things like "trusting my parents" and "trying to have a close and loving relationship with my family". I'm not sure I would have been better off if I had known how awful, untrustworthy, and abusive they were. I'm not sure what I could have done differently to save myself.

Getting close to people means finding out that they don't want to be close to me. I've become better at maintaining relationships. Unfortunately this means keeping people at a distance. It's a paradox. If I push myself to allow for more intimacy, I will have specific needs and that is where I lose

Why do people find people with disorganized attachment so difficult to love. Because people don't like being reminded that love is dangerous, potentially painful. That love can be used to threaten and manipulate. They are filled with fear, shame, and trauma. They cannot tolerate it being laid bare.

I went to give Loki some ham. She saw my hand coming and went to both hiss and hit me, but managed to breathe in a whole lungful of ham and just froze. It was very funny. She ate the delicious ham and I didn't get hit. (Photo from treat time earlier when she was still grumpy)

You should tell people discussing the show that you’re not watching it, and why, and you should let yourself openly cringe at your sister-in-law’s Harry Potter tote bag, and you should bring up unprompted that the onslaught of legislation against trans people makes you sad and angry, presuming it does, and you should do this because, not despite, the fact that it will make you look annoying as hell and may make everyone present uncomfortable.
