It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”

Stayed up late to finish Exit Party by Emily St. John Mandel and then couldn’t sleep because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. What a beautiful novel. There’s this line about how everyone lives long enough to become a refugee from another time and holy fucking shit.

It’s wild that in just the fourth episode of X-Files, Mulder is looking at a nudie mag in his office and he shows it to Scully. Would be a real “HELLO, HUMAN RESOURCES??” moment if he wasn’t such a hunk. It’s also the same episode as Big Naturals Bigfoot. Guess Mulder had big naturals on his mind.

I had this idea from reading the elizabeth holmes mouse post and then I couldn't do anything else until i painted the idea to completion

It is a cartoon mouse, like Jerry from Tom and Jerry, shaped like a wedge of cheese presumably because it has eaten a wedge of cheese. The mouse has Elizabeth Holmes' face. The mouse is saying "Why would I deceive you? There's no reason for me to do that."
