Here’s my op-ed on Chief Justice John Roberts whitewashed history of President and Chief Justice William Howard Taft. Roberts adoration of Taft’s “restraint” conveniently omits Taft’s racism, refusal to condemn lynching, and embrace of Lost Causism. That’s no accident. share.inquirer.com/IcPlmx

Will the real William Howard Taft please stand up?
Chief Justice John Roberts penned an incomplete, but revealing, tribute to former President and Chief Justice William Howard Taft.

Please give this page a follow! It's a public history project by debbielinsleyliles.bsky.social mapping the migration of enslaved people into TX in the 19th century. & if you know anything about the Civil War, you know that's a lot of enslaved people especially from 1860-65, as slavery spread west 🗃️

Do not let the White House convince you that they are dictating what happens for the 250th. They're doing a bunch of stuff, but it's all fleeting spectacle. There is genuine, thoughtful, history-focused programming happening all over the United States. Get offline and go find it.

Everyone needs to read this necessary piece by Ben Wright. I think most of us working in red states get “blue-state-splained” on the regular. Wright says this is more than condescension. It “fractures communities that require solidarity.” Exodus is not the answer.
