I visited the Gay Dolphin Gift Cove in Myrtle Beach and something changed within me. The floor plan is labyrinthine. Here, a maelstrom of chaotic kitsch manifested from a strange convergence of beach vacation nostalgia, Americana, and capitalism. It consumes itself endlessly, like an ouroboros.

After learning which items were assigned to which category, participants rated the similarity of human–object pairs both within and across the two groups.
