Interested in game design. Got paid for it for a while, that sure was neat. Love all kinds of pixel and pixel-free art and folks who make crazy stuff out of whatever. Pro-making, pro-storytelling, pro-trans, prolific haver of cats.

I said this in a thread last night and in a thousand threads before it, but you really are doing the work of those who would destroy democracy and the rule of law when you are a doomer. You can be aware of — and vigorously oppose — the lawlessness of this administration without insisting on doom.

It would be much better for all Americans to enjoy security in their citizenship than to obsess over whatever half dozen edge cases can be dredged up in a year. If citizenship is obtained fraudulently, prosecute that like any other crime. After Trump I'm not sure this would even be such a hard sell.

It's not even the ethics of it. My career, my hobbies, my free time, hell, my whole life took off once I fully left Twitter. It is a place to go if you want to be stuck in a neverending race war feedback loop. Like not using ChatGPT, not using Twitter is a superpower. Remain employable; stay off it.

Two Chinese porcelain objects reportedly damaged at British Museum, renewing calls for return of looted cultural relics
Two Chinese porcelain objects dating to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) Kangxi period at the British Museum were allegedly damaged on Sunday after a bowl fell from its display shelf. The museum reportedly said in response that neither the shelf nor its mounting showed signs of failure and that an investigation into the incident was continuing, according to Red Star News.

Even in America in 2026 you couldn't get away with this atrocity. Guess the eugenics movement (marketed as "anti-vax" or otherwise) has strong friends in Denmark.

Boy, do I not want to read any more thoughts from anyone not a historian or scholar about whether People Are Bloodthirsty By Nature And Love Public Executions. So many people blaring their opinions based on pop culture, movies they've seen, shit of that quality. It's noise and it's tiresome.

My Boomer parents cultivated the idea that they were from large, hard-pressed families and had built everything from nothing all by themselves. That was not at all true, I learned much later. It was just what they thought a child should believe.

if your agents are going to commit crimes, you are legally responsible if you cannot figure out how to prevent your agents from doing crimes, you’re going to have to choose between releasing them and protecting yourself from criminal liability imo this would do more for “ai safety” than a sex cult

It's ridiculous to argue that armed troops standing in front of voting locations won't frighten a lot of people away from voting. I try to give people grace, but they're shooting people dead out there, often. The threat is not hypothetical and bragging that YOU'RE not afraid tells me who you aren't.

It's stupid from the point of view of the FBI's fitness, which absolutely doesn't matter to Patel or his boss. It's successful graft from the point of view of Patel and his boss. So it's not stupid if they get away with it, and people need to stop laughing when they execute another successful heist.

The AI bros are letting more and more "accidents" happen, hoping for one that's just the right size—big enough to demand government funding to prevent the next one, and laws enshrining them as a defense cartel without legal competitors, but not so big they're lynched. "Gaming out" indeed.

Feature not a bug. A big piece of the "AI thinks for itself" is getting morons (apparently a lot of them already here, more than I expected) to believe this is true so when the Musk/Altman/Amodei put their thumb on the scale to get the results they (or whomever is paying) want, their hands are clean

This is why the response, "Who cares if they're livestreaming an execution? They already do X, Y and Z, aren't those are just as bad? Were you born yesterday?" is so perfectly useless. This is not the same as bystander footage of a cop killing. Things can get much worse and this is one of the ways.

The proposition of sentience or intelligence is part of the AI Industry’s agnotology gambit. Just as Big Tobacco funded red herring research to flood public discourse with doubt, so this industry poses inane talking points as existential questions and even funds research into them.
