I think I finally figured out Trump. In the @puscifermusic.bsky.social track Simultaneous, there is a line. We will never know world peace until three people can simultaneously look each other in the eye. My cat raised her tail and stared right at me. Now I get where Trump fits in that triangle.

Owl of Athena! 🦉❤️ The goddess’s sacred bird with helmet and weapons transformed into a tiny armed warrior! Red-figure ceramic vessel made in Athens around 2,400 years ago! 📷 Louvre Museum, Paris collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/5335... #Archaeology
The Louvre image shows an ancient Athenian ceramic vessel decorated with an orangey-red coloured owl with weapons and helmet against a glossy black slip background. The owl’s details are defined in black. The owl stands facing right, with body in profile and head tilted slightly forwards and turned full-face towards the viewer. It has large circular eyes outlined in black, a small pointed v-shaped beak, and dense plumage represented by dots on the head, and rows of short black lines and dots on the broad wing at its side. It wears a helmet and has a human-like right arm holding a long spear horizontally at its side, and on the other side, at right, is a large round shield. The figure appears quite comic and endearing, at least to the modern eye.

The Louvre describes the vessel as an ‘oinochoe’, that is a wine jug with a single handle (looks like a cup to me!). The handle is not seen in the image. Dimensions: Height: 6.4 cm, Diameter 6 cm. Dated 425-375 BC. The vessel is displayed on a small black museum plinth against a light grey background.

Owl imagery on red-figure ceramic cups and jugs was extremely popular some 2,500 years ago and they were produced in large quantities in pottery workshops in Athens and beyond.

Britons taking “Plan 2” student loan need to earn £63,600 a year to reduce debt. Plan 2 graduates with an average loan of £52,100, and earning £39,039 would see loan balance actually increase by £1,692 a year. England student debt £294.6bn, UK £324bn Median UK employee wage is £31,500. Madness.

Keeping an eye out for restoration/repair projects - this week, a Roland RS-5. This is a simplified, lightweight rompler with minimal editing, but claims to have the sounds of a Roland XV or SR-JV expansion card. I think it's probably an SC88 SoundCanvas with keys. But it has an arpeggiator...
A 2001 Roland RS-5 64 Voice synthesizer. It was £30 on Facebook and needs a headphone jack and keyboard refurb (only one key, feels weird like the rubber contact has got stuck in an odd place).

My cheap marketplace #YamahaDX7 has now had a whole stack of repairs and upgrades. And of course, a lot of time. From duff keys and battery, to a brain transplant and now... a new display panel. This one is my favourite. Now I can see the screen! It's also the 2nd cheapest repair after the battery.
An LCD display on a Yamaha DX7 from 1984z It is set deep in the machine and not backlit, so never easy to see.A new red on black OLED display in the same DX7... what a difference it makes, as the illuminated letters stand out in all lighting.

The man set to be our next Prime Minister has gone on record as saying he wants to bring key utilities like energy and water into 'public control'. But Andy Burnham hasn't clarified what he's proposing. Here’s the truth about public control that not enough people know about. vist.ly/5bigb
Infographic showing the difference between public control and public ownership. Public control - Government regulation decides on prices and services provided. Public ownership - local, regional or national ownership by the public, all profits reinvested. Deregulation (ie zero public control) makes your services even worse. Adding accountability to citizens/households can make services better.

Autobahn is thirsty work. Something rarer than the Audi visiting Tesco!
A 1989 Audi 100 Avant parked at a petrol pump with a black sports car behind it. One of a handful left on UK roads - possibly only 3 facelift Avant non-quattro in the UK now.A Porsche 924S LeMans - genuine, in black with distinctive coordinated stripes and teledial wheels, plus 10hp more and special trim. A handful of these in each of black or white were sold, 12 remain according to the owner.

The chances of these two cars from 1988-89 meeting are amazingly slim!
