Be kind. Make things with your hands. Something. Anything. Make a fucking sandwich. Read a book. Listen to a record from start to finish. Literally anything at all that puts us closer to tipping the scale back toward humanity. It sounds trite, but what else is there?

Unlike cheap internet access or 3G phones (the true drivers of the 90s/2000s explosion) consumer AI is a means with no end. You can't sell that to consumers. Only to businesses that misunderstand the relationship between technology and profits/cost-savings. Because to them, it's magic beans.

Once again, for the politicians, business leaders, and journalists still actively posting on X/Twitter: why? You're using a platform that's owned by someone who's trying to break up your country. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

New season of Slow Horses is a new opportunity to be impressed at how that show makes England look like the world's biggest post apocalyptic shithole Like, I know the show isn't set in the aftermath of a massive nuclear strike and the collapse of civil society, but, what would they need to change?

All I wanted from the AoS dwarfs was for them to look distinct from Old World dwarfs and not just nicer sculpts. Achieving this by making them look like ass is definitely a choice, but okay.

I think they did that to make ranking up less fiddly and create space for bigger resculpts; GW as a whole clearly thinks it's a huge problem if people buy models from one line to use in another (eg -> pulling all the 40k rules for Heresy models, their choices of legacy factions in TOW ...)

Barry Beldam @bbeldam.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Looking at the new Age of Sigmar dwarves, it looks like GW is trying to solve the (non) problem of AOS models being bought for use in Old World by making AOS models look terrible. Bold move Cotton, etc.

You're also talking about a commodity which is only going to become less and less valuable every year from this point forward with no chance of reversing the trend; potentially dramatically so, looking at what China is doing with transport electrification.

That said, you can say 2 of 3 of those points about Venezuelan oil as well, so I'm not saying people are wrong about US intentions. Profound ignorance is the water in which Republican fishes swim. More that this is yet another way American pointless self-destruction is playing out.

Barry Beldam @bbeldam.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
When talking about how the US is focused on Alberta because they want their oil, remember that Alberta can't meaningfully ramp up production from where it's at, most of it already goes to the US on favourable terms, and Alberta oil can't replace Middle East oil because they're different products.

At this point, Canada shouldn't even be trying to negotiate a CUSMA extension. Reducing trade friction with the US is not in our long term interest (clearly) and the US doesn't respect its agreements anyway. If free trade agreements with the US had any value, none of this would be happening.
