Carney’s legislative agenda is abundantly clear: make Canada as investor and big business friendly as he possibly can with zero regard for anything else. Nothing is sacred if it stands in the way of a (even possible!) short term fiscal bump. What Canada will we be left with when Carney is done?

Canadians have the right to assembly and freedom of speech, and especially the right to assemble on Parliament Hill. This government’s descent into authoritarianism must be checked. Already they’ve pushed through legislation without public consultation and Parliamentary debate.

Deliberately worsening the global climate crisis that's raging ever further out of control to temporarily benefit foreign oil industry shareholders is Mark Carney's personal definition of "in the national interest." This is ecocidal anti-leadership. 1/ environmentaldefence.ca/2026/08/04/p...
Four images in sequence. The first is a horrifying glimpse of runaway wildfires in the EU, with flames stretching so tall they make the mature trees they're consuming look small. Overlaying text reads "Record wildfires are devastating Europe with worse to come."

The second image is of UN Secretary António Guterres. Word bubbles indicate that he is speaking" "Every new fossil fuel project approved today makes tomorrow's heat waves more dangerous and world less secure."

Third is a picture of a brave firefighter surrounded by flames in British Columbia, with overlaying text that reads BC fire officials: "exploosive fire behaviour & growth like we've never seen before."

Fourth, an image of deeply irresponsible Canadian prime minister Mark Carney, smiling broadly as if he's incredibly pleased with himself, with overlaying text: "Accelerates oil pipeline project by moving to free it from needing environmental assessment."

There’s a reason that nonprofits and philanthropy are most prevalent in the US vs real democracies such as much of Northern Europe. Philanthropy is reputation washing for the rich. It’s not designed to fix things. Its core function is making people feel change is occurring while doing nothing.

I think @readtheorchard.org nails it with this. To use the heuristic "The purpose of a system is what it does," the purpose of Carney's government is quite clearly to advance a nakedly corporate agenda at the expense of Canadians (and the environment). open.substack.com/pub/theorcha...
"While it’s easy to write off Carney’s unrequited policy concessions as a failed negotiating tactic, I suggest it’s more helpful to understand them as part of a broader corporate authoritarian consensus that Carney is willfully facilitating, acting less as a head of state and more as the CEO of Canada Inc., maximizing value for shareholders."

More than a person, Jessica is a state of mind. To play Jessica, you need self -confidence, a sense of humor, and a Jessican -attitude-.
