Weekend scoop from me for @votebeat.org: Two GOP members of Georgia’s State Election Board say Executive Director James Mills sent letters to DOJ and DHS without telling the board or getting approval — and that the letters went beyond what the board voted to request. www.votebeat.org/national/202...

Here’s a spray chart of previous batted balls with the same launch angle and exit velocity as Ty France’s.
A baseball diamond showing most balls hit with a 105mph exit velocity and 49-degree launch angle were outs.

In the long term, though, the decision will let states keep using SAVE to search for noncitizens on the voter roll. While the tool can be useful, it has been shown to have a very high rate of false positives.

Nathaniel Rakich @baseballot.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
The Supreme Court's ruling on the SAVE database shouldn't affect the 2026 election. Under federal law, you can't systematically remove voters from the rolls within 90 days of an election.

"The most likely outcome at this point is that Democrats pick up five to 15 seats, resulting in Democrats holding 220 to 230 seats in 2027 … That range could shift further in Democrats’ favor over the next five weeks if Republicans are unable to effectively stem the bleeding."
