Sort of insane fact about how broken US urban planning is—America now spends more building *just the lights for roads and highways* than on all subways & ground mass transit combined Spending on roadway *pavement* is 18x transit spending

I know we’re all tired of being on Zoom, but some important Zoom etiquette reminders:

- everyone wants to see your cat

- don’t just say “my cat is here,” hold your cat up to the camera so we can see it

- when your cat is on camera, either say “cat” or type “cat” in the chat

"A partisan police force has no place in Canada." Indeed. An important update from the Toronto Police Accountability Coalition. #ONpoli www.tpac.ca/bulletin.php...
Text: While the Police Board has a strong policy prohibiting members of the police service, including the Toronto Police Association, from endorsing political candidates – a policy in conformity with provincial law – the Board and the chief refused to enforce that policy when the Police Association endorsed Doug Ford and then Pierre Poilievre. Instead it asked the Inspector General what it should do.

TPAC challenged the Board (in March 2025) and asked the Inspector General (in April 2025) what was happening. On March 5 of this year, the Inspector General wrote to TPAC stating:
`The Board advised that it considered the concerns raised in the [TPAC]
complaint and determined that revisions to its existing Board Policy entitled Political Activity were appropriate. The Board further advised that it is in the process of revising this policy to ensure it is compliant with the requirements of the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019. The Board confirmed that the revised policy will be brought forward for consideration at a future Board meeting.’

For more than a year the Board has refused to enforce its own policy and the law. In spite of the letter from the Inspector General almost three months ago, it has not released its new policy - whatever it says - so the public can respond to it.

Municipal election activity has already begun for the election in November. It is critical that the Board commit to follow provincial legislation and prosecute officers who endorse candidates. A partisan police force has no place in Canada.
