"Eugène Delacroix's painting 'La Liberté guidant le peuple' ('Liberty Leading the People'), depicting the French revolution as a ragtag group of peasants led by a flag-waving, bare-breasted incarnation of 'Liberty.' The painting has been altered: the scene is now being observed with a giant, smoke-shrouded CCTV dome, and the distant building have been replaced with a mainframe computer.

We stand with Amnesty International UK. Freedom of expression isn't a one-way street. If organisations demand the right to criticise others, they must also accept the right to be criticised. Read our statement on why this matters for democracy and human rights.
TACC stands with Amnesty International UK.

For years, organisations like Sex Matters have claimed their voices are being silenced. They have presented themselves as champions of free speech, arguing that gender-critical beliefs are excluded from public debate and marginalised by institutions.
Yet when one of the world's most respected human rights organisations published research that challenged their campaigning, their response was not to engage with the evidence or publish a rebuttal. Instead, they publicly declared that they were prepared to sue for defamation.
Freedom of expression cannot be a principle that applies only when you agree with what is being said. If you demand the right to criticise others, you must also accept their right to criticise you.
The consequences reach far beyond Amnesty. If charities, researchers and human rights organisations begin censoring themselves because they fear expensive legal action, then public debate is no longer shaped by evidence, but by who has the deepest pockets and the most aggressive lawyers.
This comes at a time when transgender people in the UK are facing levels of state-sanctioned segregation unprecedented in modern British history. Rather than confronting the human impact of those policies, some organisations appear more concerned with silencing those who scrutinise their role in bringing them about. Many of the ideas and legal strategies now shaping the UK's culture wars did not originate here. They have been promoted internationally by organisations such as Alliance Defending Freedom, which has played a significant role in campaigns to roll back LGBTQIA+ rights and reproductive rights in the United States. Britain should be extremely cautious about importing those tactics into our own democratic debate.
A society does not lose its freedoms overnight. It loses them when powerful organisations can campaign without restraint, yet seek to suppress those who hold them to account.
That is why TACC stands with Amnesty International UK.

From the Trans Exile Network. Please share.
Key points:
1. A legal change of sex/gender is no longer recognised as valid in the UK.
2. Any sexual contact between a trans person and a non-trans person can be regarded as a sexual assault or rape, due to a lack of consent, unless the trans person discloses that they are trans first.
3. It is official State guidance that if a trans person uses a facility for the sex they identify as, the business is likely to be committing discrimination against non- trans people and guidance stresses that this may be harassment of the non- trans person; this can be a crime as well as a civil wrong.
4. Trans women are being moved from female prisons to male ones, irespective of whether they have had surgery, or other factors.
5. The Government has advised that signs be put up on doors, informing people of the restrictions on sex-specific spaces (in effect "no trans' warnings).
6. The Government has advised that people may be questioned about their presence if they are believed to be 'transgender' based on their physical appearance. There are no documents in the UK which are regarded as proof of sex.
7. The UK police have introduced a policy that searches of trans people must be done by an oficer of the same birth sex. For example a post-operative trans woman may be searched by a man.
8. In an emergency or for routine treatment on the National Health Service trans people must not be placed in single sex wards other than their birth sex (eg a post operative trans woman must be on a male ward).
9. rans women no longer have the right to equal pay with men and corre spondingl trans men no longer have a right to equal pay with women.
10.For visitors entering the UK for sports, association or club activity, whether amateur or professional there is a risk of issues over venues and competitions being obliged to exclude trans competitors or treat them in a way different from their home countries
