Milo is repugnant, but this DHS post is pure fascism. "He chose to overstay his welcome" and "Being in detention is a choice" - as if everyone doesn't know it's a political detention that never would have happened if he hadn't made the wrong enemies in the movement.

Yet if the gig economy generates the precarity and downward social mobility that generated rising discontent in Europe before 1848 and the Middle East before 2011 then the resulting social instability and revolutionary violence would destroy whatever positive economic effects has

Deregulation can be helpful, but to my mind, this is where Berlin has to do its own homework. Some ideas: get rid of insurance mandates for competing EU companies, suppress protected professions, create tax incentives to work, not stay at home. The IMF has some suggestions. 7/end

Yeah this is deeply ignorant of how electrical systems work. You are over producing expensive electricity at peak and taking on cheaper electricity at trough. So if you are charged the same price for both you are getting a subsidy at everyone else’s expense for no efficiency gain.

Every elected official does this. In many cases the elected officials you regard as ideological and policy mediocrities are quite good at it, which is why they’re handily releected. Also, well-known, publicly recognizable figures who spend a lot of time in media are often bad at it.

Looking at responses to Sander's points, a tendency on the Centre Right mirror-imaging dogmatic Marxist hostility against capitalism is to view free trade and the market as quasi-theological absolute truths rather than variable outcomes of structural trends whose social utility can change over time
