New preprint alert! 🦠🔬 We quantitatively evaluated the swimming and flagellar movement of Chattonella, a red-tide alga. Chattonella has two unequal flagella, and we found a positive correlation between anterior flagellum length and swimming speed. #protistonsky www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Asked similar question before but I try again. Anyone knows proteins that localize like this? This protein is present in diplonemids/bodonids/euglenids/Naegleria, which have two flagella, but not in trypanosomatids that have just one flagellum. Potentially interesting for flagella/cilia community?

It’s interesting that all versions of Alphafold distort large extended proteins to ‘globularise’ them. It’s fine for people that understand those helices are ‘bent’ but for non experts it’s confusing. 🫤 🤔 It happens a lot and isn’t well discussed in the community.
