A beach scene that's in an early morning shadow (because that's when the low tide was!). There is coarse sand, rocks with water puddles, tide pools and seaweed. The tide pools are all reflecting the blue sky, and in the distance are waves rolling in. On the right side of the image are the bluff cliffs, the most prominent one has a large cave chiseled away by the ocean. The cave has two openings...the one seen and one facing the ocean (not visible). This is Coon Creek Beach in Montaña De Oro State Park, Los Osos, California. This beach can only be accessed at low tide.

The frame looks south across a Western Slope reservoir at low light, the water rendered in deep saturated blue against sun-warmed tan mesas. A visible bathtub ring — a pale band of exposed rock and sediment — traces the former high-water line along the near shore and the small peninsulas jutting into the lake, marking how far the surface has dropped. Layered sedimentary ridges rise in the background, their striations catching low-angle sun while shadowed folds recede into purple in the distance. The water is nearly still, holding a near-perfect mirrored reflection of the shoreline hills.

The exposed waterline functions less as a scenic detail than as a measurement — a visible record of drawdown that the landscape itself has kept. Reflection and recession work together here: the mirrored calm of the water contrasts with the eroded, terraced evidence of what the reservoir used to hold.

Big Four Mountain dominates the frame, remnant snow packed into couloirs and clinging to north-facing ledges well into June. The mountain drops hard to a valley floor that has gone completely green, bright meadow grass and leafing shrubs in the foreground giving way to a dense conifer belt that pushes as far up the slopes as the rock allows. A sharp subsidiary ridge juts into the frame on the left, and clouds trail across a saturated blue sky behind the summit.

Comfortably warm summer afternoon on the banks of the Willamette River near Salem Oregon. It’s a bit rocky on this side of the river, but a few plants growing out into the water, while the other side of the river is lined with trees and other summer greenery. Pretty strong winds at this time, stirring the surface of the water. Several white puffy clouds, being swept over the trees and the river with the blue sky as background ☮️
