Sad to hear of the passing of Hayden Panettiere, who was in Greenville, SC at the time of her death. She would have turned 37 this Friday, August 21st. Tragically, her younger brother Jansen passed away a few years earlier in 2023 at the age of 28 from heart issues. Both gone way to soon 💔 RIP

This is the Tom Kelly Bottle House in Rhyolite, Nevada. It’s a fascinating piece of desert ingenuity built entirely out of over 50,000 bottles (mainly beer and medicine bottles). Constructed in 1906 by a 76-year-old miner, this quirky home was held together with adobe mud because traditional building materials were scarce and expensive during the gold rush. Remarkably, it is the oldest and second largest bottle house still standing in the United States. Surprisingly, Kelly never actually lived in the house himself. Instead of moving in, he capitalized on the town's curiosity and raffled it off for $5 a ticket. The lucky winners—the Bennett family—became its very first residents. Decades later, it even served as a Hollywood movie set for Paramount Pictures, making it a truly legendary piece of roadside Americana.

I can’t see this move happening for many reasons…too many major hurdles, including environmental issues: soil, groundwater, and air quality concerns in a heavily industrialized zone with active EPA oversight and ongoing cleanups.
Nearby hazards include the BP Whiting Refinery and multiple hazardous waste sites. Building the stadium would also disturb the reclaimed Lost Marsh Golf Course, built directly on a former slag heap (steel industry waste) capped with biosolids (treated human waste). This raises real risks of disturbing heavy metals like lead and arsenic, plus other pollutants during construction.
In my opinion, this would be a major fail on the part of the state of Illinois, the city of Chicago, and the McCaskey family. After more than 100 years as Chicago’s iconic team, losing the Bears across state lines would be an economic, cultural, and civic loss — a real betrayal of the team’s identity. Indiana is not Illinois, no matter how close it is. The Chicago Bears relocating to another state just isn’t comparable to other NFL teams that have moved! Imagine if the Green Bay Packers moved to Michigan!
